CSA has awarded 18 national contracts and two hybrid contracts, which will be in effect from 1 June 2025 to 31 May 2026. The new hybrid contract system sees David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen contracted for specific bilateral tours and ICC events, allowing them to contribute strategically to the national team in these key fixtures.
Among the Dolphins players, Keshav Maharaj, a stalwart of the team, has retained his national contract, which highlights his continued importance to the Proteas in both Test and limited-overs cricket. Additionally, Miller has earned a hybrid contract, which means he will feature for South Africa in key tours and ICC events during the 2025/26 season.
This announcement also brings some first-time national contracts, including Momentum Multiply Titans’ seam bowler Lizaad Williams and Dafabet Warriors all-rounder Senuran Muthusamy, with Lions fast bowler Kwena Maphaka making his first appearance in all formats this past season. Wiaan Mulder, David Bedingham, and Kyle Verreynne from World Sports Betting Western Province, who have had strong seasons, also received contract upgrades.
In the lead-up to what promises to be a thrilling year for South African cricket, the national squad will compete in various tours and ICC events. They will travel to Zimbabwe, Australia, England, Pakistan, and India, while also hosting the West Indies. The busy calendar will culminate in two major ICC events: the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia in June at Lord’s, England, and the 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
CSA’s Director of National Teams and High Performance, Enoch Nkwe, expressed his congratulations to all contracted players, emphasizing the importance of the next World Test Championship cycle and the 2027 Cricket World Cup on home soil. Nkwe also highlighted the strategic importance of the hybrid contracts for players like David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen, ensuring their valuable input in key international fixtures.
