Chevrolet Warriors vs the Cape Cobras | Wednesday 2 November | Buffalo Park | 18:00

After an intriguing weekend of cricket in the Ram Slam T20 Challenge which saw all six teams in action, the Chevrolet Warriors will host the Cape Cobras in the only midweek fixture of the round.
The Cobras are coming off an excellent victory against the bizhub Highveld Lions in which Wayne Parnell scored 99 after opening the batting. The Warriors, on the other hand, were comfortably beaten at home by the Unlimited Titans.

To Win Match
Chevrolet Warriors 29/20
Draw 35/1
The Cape Cobras 11/20

Chevrolet Warriors
The Warriors were easily brushed aside by a far superior Titans side in the second match of the double-header at St George’s Park on Saturday. Having lost the toss and being asked to field, the Warriors struggled to keep the Titans’ opening pair of Henry Davids and Quinton de Kock quiet.

The tournaments form openers, put on 72 for the first wicket before Mangaliso Moshele came in and scored a career-best 65 off just 36 balls, taking the Titans’ total to 167-3. The Warriors were never really in the game having lost both openers for just four runs. By the time Yaseen Vallie had been bowled by Junior Dala, the game was already over as a contest with the PE side languishing on 3-8 after five overs; eventually being bowled out for 127.

There is a distinct lack of quality in this Warriors side and it’s showed in their results throughout the competition. The likes of JJ Smuts and Colin Ingram simply haven’t been able to carry the burden of responsibility on their own this season. The men from Port Elizabeth will do well too even prevent an extremely strong Cobras side from winning with a bonus point on Wednesday.

The Cape Cobras
The Cobras come into this game after an impressive victory over the bizhub Highveld Lions on Sunday afternoon at the Wanderers. Having won the toss and electing to bat, the Lions would finish on 153-5 after their 20 alloted overs with Devon Conway topping the scoring charts with 37 from 36 balls. Rory Kleinveldt and Justin Kemp were the pick of the Cobra’s bowlers, finishing on figures of 3-0-17-1 and 4-0-26-2 respectively.

Somewhat surprisingly, Paul Adams sent out Wayne Parnell to open the batting for the Cape side along with Andrew Puttick. It was a decision that would pay off as Parnell would go on to score 99 off just 57 balls. Eddie Leie and Aaron Phangiso – who have been so effective for the Lions in the middle overs this season – struggled to hit their lengths and were punished by a rampant Parnell.

Worryingly for the Cape side, however, was the lack of support he received with Andrew Puttick being the only other player to get into double figures for the Cape franchise. While the rest of the batting line-up underperformed on Sunday, you can never discount a team that has Richard Levi, Justin Kemp and Robbie Peterson in its ranks.

Verdict Cape Cobras (11/20)
The Warriors definitely lack quality as was evident in their loss the Titans last time out. Back the Cape Cobras to canter to a simple enough victory on Wednesday evening.
