The early takeaway from the SA20 has been that there is a strong new generation of T20 cricketers coming through the system.

Dewald Brevis of MI Cape Town already has an imposing aura surrounding him.

While he may struggle to live up to the incredibly high expectations people have for him, Brevis has been labelled ‘Baby AB’.

Joining Brevis in catching the eye, was the Joburg Super Kings’ Donovan Ferreira.

The 24-year-old smashed 82 off just 40 balls to introduce himself to the SA20 audience.

Ferreira comes through the cricket pipeline that is Affies, following in the footsteps of Faf Du Plessis, AB de Villiers and Black Caps Fast bowler Neil Wagner.

His career hasn’t taken off as he has been moved between Gauteng organisations but he has done his progress no harm with a super first knock.

Ferreira is one of a seemingly endless supply of wicketkeeper batters that are around on the domestic scene.

Already around the national team are Quinton de Kock, Heinrich Klaasen, Kyle Verreynne and Ryan Rickleton.

Meanwhile, younger players like Tristan Stubbs and Grant Roelofson are also keeping wicket off and on.

Roelofson has also put his hand up with an impressive half-century for a star-studded MI Cape Town.

The Dolphins wicketkeeper batter has experience playing County cricket and has now been around the First Class and List A scenes for some time.

Among the bowlers making star turns we have seen Marco Jansen make an amazing step up to international cricket.

In the SA20 we have been able to get a closer look at Marco’s twin brother Duan.

Both of the Jansen’s have ambitions of being international all-rounders and we can probably expect more and more bowlers to be able to wield the willow in some fashion.

Surprise packages among the SA20 allrounders have been Evan Jones and Codi Yusuf which will set South Africa up for a bright future.
