Third ODI | Tuesday 11 February 2020 | Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui | 04:00

To Win
New Zealand 13/10
Tie 35/1
India 63/100

New Zealand
In the absence of Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor has stepped up, and he should be key to the Black Caps hopes of a series whitewash. The skipper may return for the third ODI but with the series won he might take an extra rest to recover from injury.

One man who has had a disappointing series so far for the hosts is Colin de Grandhomme, who has struggled with both bat and ball. He should be desperate to make an impact in the final match of the series.

Martin Guptill has scored two ODI centuries at the Bay Oval and has looked in good touch upfront for the Black Caps this series.

With the new ball, Hamish Bennett has yet to prove that he is a long term option for New Zealand. At Eden Park, New Zealand went in without a spinner, but Ish Sodhi could return for the final ODI.

India
India haven’t quite gelled together as a team in this series and as such have been unable to banish the ghosts of their World Cup defeat to New Zealand.

The tourists have missed openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma desperately but have opted not to give the job to in-form batsman Lokesh Rahul even as Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal have struggled.

For a team used to dominating, Virat Kohli’s charges have looked off the pace even though they have not been overwhelmed in this series.

India have won both of their previous ODI matches at Bay Oval with those triumphs coming just two days apart in January 2019, despite being only a year ago, both teams have undergone major changes since that brace of matches.

Verdict: New Zealand 13/10
India have more to play for, but New Zealand appear to be in better form.
