Victory in sight for Hollywoodbets Dolphins in Maritzburg

Daryn Dupavillion bowling for the Hollywoodbets Dolphins in their 4-Day match against the Lions

Pietermaritzburg – A third day of all-round strong cricket in a row from the Hollywoodbets Dolphins sees the home side staring down victory in their 4-Day Domestic Series match with the Imperial Lions at the Pietermaritzburg Oval with six wickets to get on the final day.

Heading into the third day the Dolphins needed to pick up the final two Lions first innings wickets, however the visitors managed to scrape together 35 runs for the final two wickets as Malusi Siboto scored 22 not out for the Lions to see them to 147 all out.

Daryn Dupavillon was the pick of the Dolphins bowlers taking four for 29 while Prenelan Subrayen picked up three for 21 as the Dolphins went into their second innings with a lead of 234 runs, as captain Marques Ackerman decided to bat again instead of enforcing the follow-on with a deficit of just three runs.

In their second innings two of the Dolphins’ first innings runs scorers, Sarel Erwee and Vaughn van Jaarsveld, both went to fifty before the hosts declared their innings closed on 195 for six, a lead of 430 runs.

In the final innings of the game the Dolphins continued to be patient and they had to wait thirteen overs before they picked up their first wicket. Andile Phehlukwayo had Joshua Richards caught for 24 before he then accounted for Dominic Hendricks for eighteen one run later.

Prenelan Subrayen got his fourth of the match when he picked up the wicket of Reeza Hendricks for five and then ten runs later he snagged Wihan Lubbe for a single.

Temba Bavuma stood firm with Ryan Rickelton as they took the Lions to 98 for four at the close of play. Bavuma will resume on 41 while Rickelton will start day four on five.

The Lions require a further 332 runs to win the match with six second innings wickets in hand.
