Race 7.
ZAPATEO had her consistency rewarded with a one length victory last time out over 1100M, despite coming four wide into the home straight. She finished off her race well that day, hitting the front at the 100M to win going away and the form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. She does return from a 14 week rest, but did win her only barrier trial. From her handy draw four, she should turn in another honest performance today.
JAMAEA showed solid improvement to finish third last time out over six furlongs, 1.2L back from the winner and the form of that race has been franked. She has her first run for her new trainer and returns after a slightly longer 16 week break, but she finished second in her only barrier trial to showcase her well-being. She gets gate six and if fully settled into her new surroundings, she should give a good account of herself here.
BOOMNOVA is a speedy sort who completed her hat-trick after three wins over five furlongs, the latest by one length and she has won a subsequent barrier trial. She faces a wide draw twelve out of thirteen, but she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.
Race 8.
ANAMOE followed up his penultimate run victory in a Group 1 event over ten furlongs with a nineth place finish next time out in another Group 1 race over the same journey, thirteen lengths adrift of the winner, but that was in very heavy going, which clearly did not suit him and a line should be drawn through that effort. He returns from a 19 week break, but has had the two barrier trials, finishing third in the first and winning the latest. He has cracked pole position and could give trainer James Cunningham the first two legs of the day’s Jackpot.
MO’UNGA won this race last year, but was slightly disappointing last time out when finishing sixth over seven furlongs, just under seven and a half lengths adrift of the victor, but that was in heavy going and he had to be eased off the heels of other runners over the closing stages. He is drawn one outside the top choice and returns from an 18 week rest, but he has had the benefit of two barrier trials.
FORBIDDEN LOVE is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys and finished sixth last time out in a Group 2 contest over six furlongs, 3.3L off the winner when returning from a 16 week rest, but she did come three wide into the home stretch that day. She on the other hand faces a wide draw ten, but she is a speedy sort who should be able to work her way across without using up too much gas.
Race 9.
WILLINGA BEAST has only had the two runs to date, winning over 1100M on debut and then finishing second next time out in a Group 2 event over six furlongs, beaten just a head. She came four wide into the home straight that day and then just failed to run down the winner over the closing stages. She resumes after a 19 week absence, but has won both of her barrier trials to prove her fitness and is sure to put her pole position to good use.
IN SECRET returns from a shorter 14 week spell, but she did finish third in her only barrier trial. She has also only had the two starts to date, but she has won both of them over the five furlong sprint, the latest by one and a half lengths. She delivered a powerful finish to win that latest contest and the form of that race has stood up well with three runners out of that race subsequently winning. She gets gate five and will be hoping to keep her unbeaten record in tack.
REVOLUTIONARY MISS won over 1100M three runs back, followed that with a second place finish in her penultimate start over six furlongs and then ended up in eleventh spot last time out in a Group 1 race over six furlongs, eight lengths back from the winner. That was however in heavy going and she had to be eased off the heels of other runners at the 800M, before not getting the clearest of passages in the home straight. She returns from a 22 week absence, but has had two barrier trials, finishing third in the latest. She will have to negotiate draw nine, but with better luck in running today, she should be included in all bets.
Race 10.
The day’s value bet, ARBITRATION is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she goes for her hat-trick here after two wins over six furlongs, the latest by half a length when returning from a 24 week break. She jumped awkwardly that day and found herself at the back of the field racing three wide without cover and forcing her to come four wide into the home straight. She did however make good late progress over the closing stages to claim her victory. She has pulled gate seven and could give trainer James Cunningham three legs of the day’s Jackpot.
PIZARRO is drawn one outside the top pick and won his penultimate run over 1300m and then finished third last time out over the same c&d, one length behind the winner, notwithstanding coming four wide into the home stretch. The gelding has yet to finish out of the top three in his seven runs to date, having won two of them and should turn in another honest performance today.
JAL LEI is the stable companion to the latter and is another 4yr old filly in the race. She is seldom far off the action and was crowded shortly after the start when finishing third in her latest outing over six furlongs, just over half a length behind the winner. She stayed on well that day and from a useful draw four, she makes a solid back-up for the yard.
