Trainer Comments:

Glen Kotzen is yet to taste victory in the Met but his runner Eyes Wide Open interestingly defeated this year’s favourite Do It Again in the Cape Derby as a three-year old exactly one year ago. Glen commented:

“This has been his target from the onset of the season. Looking at the field and where they are drawn I think the pace is going to be on. I see Do It Again as the main threat and my best runner for the day is Cat Daddy.”

Jockey Comments:

Gavin Lerena was influential when rebounding last year from a serious injury. The top jockey returned with a bang and is currently relishing freelancing whilst racking up the winners. He deserves his place among the best in the country and he thought EYES WIDE OPEN could be of some value in the race. His remarks were:

“His prep has gone fairly OK but in his last start he had a lot of weight to shoulder. The pace looks like it is going to be a true one and the Snaith duo of Do It Again and Oh Susanna are my main dangers.”

Winning Form – Magic Tips Comment:
Has been below his best this campaign but last victory came over DO IT AGAIN a year ago.

Hollywoodbets Comments:

  • Eyes Wide Open’s last victory came over DO IT AGAIN over this same course and distance exactly one year ago on Met Day, when triumphing in the Investec Cape Derby. Watch the replay here.
