Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: NATIONAL KEY(5)

Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Brian WILD

NATIONAL KEY is a former winner on this surface and he got back to form with a smart last Highveld performance. He isn’t suited to the mile which explains his two poor prior runs on this track but the Brian Wild inmate could be a major force over this shorter trip. He is nicely handicapped and will relish the likely strong early pace.

TOP BET

Race 3: LECTURE D(5)

Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Paul LAFFERTY

LECTURE D was given every chance when he may have failed to see out the mile on this surface, five weeks ago. He will definitely prefer reverting to sprinting and was making steady progress for 2nd over this c & d in his penultimate run. The Lecture gelding is the stable’s only representative on this card and he should go close on his third run after the layoff.

Race 5: REGARDSTOBROADWAY(2)

Jockey: Anton MARCUS  – Trainer: Alyson WRIGHT

REGARDSTOBROADWAY has had two fair comeback runs after that year layoff and she will be cherry-ripe in her peak run tonight. She tired late against male rivals over this c & d last time and that handicapper’s were obviously pleased with that attempt as the daughter of Var picked up a three pound penalty. She has a bit of class about her and her debut victory over the smart Miss Varlicious underlines her true ability. Anton Marcus is unbeaten on the four-year old filly and the pair should go well from pole position tonight. Admittedly, she meets a strong line-up but she has plenty more to offer and could prove equal to the task.

Race 7: LEMON TEA(6)

Jockey: Calvin HABIB  – Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

LEMON TEA has taken well to this surface and she boasts solid form in her last three runs. The mile was probably too short for her in similar company last time but the daughter of Lateral was running on at the finish. She was an impressive winner over 1900m in her first attempt on this track, three runs back and she holds strong claims over the ten furlongs.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 4: SILENCE DESCENDS(3)

Jockey: Warren KENNEDY – Trainer: Sean TARRY

There are many speedy types in this competitive handicap and an exciting finish could be on the cards. SILENCE DESCENDS finally showed signs of improving when he only tired late in stronger company on the grass over this trip, three weeks ago. He should enjoy the likely suicidal pace and drops in class. The Tarry inmate has his peak run and he can cause the upset.
