June Internationals: Argentina v Wales Preview

International Rugby: South Africa v Wales Preview

Argentina will be looking to bounce back from their first Test defeat to the Welsh when the two sides lock horns on Saturday the 16th of June.

Los Pumas will be looking to atone for a wretched showing last week that saw them go down 10-23 to a Welsh side that was far from full strength. The hosts now need to win this game to ensure they walk away from the two-match series with a draw.

Argentina
Before everyone starts hyping them up, the Pumas put in one of their worst displays of the past decade, going down to a Welsh side that was missing the talismanic Dan Biggar as well as a number of other class veterans.

The Argentines endured a poor first-half and went into the shed trailing 17-3. They failed to add any points to their tally for over half an hour in the second half with their first try coming on the 78-minute mark when Tomas Lezana dotted down.

The Argentines looked rather timid with ball-in-hand last week and will need to take a page out of the Jaguares and look to be a lot more adventurous this time around if they are to level the series.

Wales
They may not have been at full strength but the Dragons did impress last week, with back up pivot Rhys Patchell playing an absolute blinder. The ginger-haired ten scored 13 of his side’s 23 points and marshalled his backline with aplomb.

Another man who was on song for the Welsh was veteran winger George North, who was a constant threat with ball-in-hand and scored one of Wales’ two tries. The Argentines will have to keep a close eye on him this weekend or he’s sure to bag himself another five-pointer.

Verdict: Argentina (-1) 9/10 * Please note expected handicaps
I’m expecting a big response for the Pumas here. Last Saturday just seemed to be one of those days where nothing clicked for them. I reckon they’ll bounce back in style and win this one by eight or more points.
