Jockeys Ride HorsesThe Parramatta Eels will be looking to bounce back from their surprises 22-18 defeat to the Sea Eagles when they square up against the seventh-placed Wests Tigers on Thursday. While we’re yet to reach the midway point of the season, both teams will be very keen to get the win under their belts as Parramatta will want to return to the top of the standings, while the Tigers will want to consolidate a spot in the play-off berths.

Parramatta Eels
Parramatta suffered only their second defeat of the season last weekend as they went down 22-18 to a Sea Eagles side that has hit a bit of a purple patch. The loss saw them drop off the top of the ladder and they now sit a point off the log-leading Penrith Panthers and level on points with the third-placed Melbourne Storm.

The Eels have a handy enough record against the Tigers and have won four of the last five games between the sides and all of the last three fixtures. They enjoyed a fantastic time of it during their double-header against the Tigers last season winning the away fixture 18-30 and their home fixture 51-6.

The Tigers had a far better time of it in Round 10 than their opponents as they hammered the Brisbane Broncos 48-0 at the Leichhardt Oval. This was their third victory in their last five games and broke a two-game losing streak that saw them suffer a 12-19 defeat to the Panthers in Round 8 and an 18-10 loss to the Rabbitohs in Round 9.

As noted above, the Tigers have really struggled against the Eels in the past few years with their last victory coming back in April 2018.

Verdict: Parramatta
The Eels have been a force to be reckoned with on home solid here and I fully expect them to bounce back on Thursday. If the handicap is below five, I’d be tempted on backing the Eels to clear it. Any over six, however, and I’m a plus punter.
