PSL: Week 11

With the Telkom Knockout semi-finals being played this weekend, there is a limited amount of PSL action on the go. In fact, there are only two league matches set to be played. The first game sees the struggling University of Pretoria take on fellow relegation candidates Maritzburg United at 15:00 on Sunday while the second fixture sees high flying Bidvest Wits take on Jomo Cosmos.

Sunday 8 November

Tuks  11/10
Draw  21/10
Maritzburg United  23/10
AmaTuks had their midweek fixture against Free State Stars postponed, so they should be quite fresh heading into this game. The Pretoria-based side have endured a horrid start to their league campaign which has seen them lose five out of the eight fixtures they’ve played thus far. They are four points above Maritzburg United on the log but will be desperate to pull further away from the foot of the table with a victory on Sunday. They have a good chance of doing precisely this as Maritzburg come to the Giant Stadium in terrible form. The Team of Choice are yet to win a league game this season and have the worst goal difference in the league. They have conceded 22 goals in the nine fixtures they’ve played thus far. To make matters worse, they’ve only been able to find the back of the net on six occasions this season. I have a feeling that Mariztburg United’s desperate situation will have been made even more dire come the conclusion of this game. Back Tuks to claim the spoils at 11/10.

Bidvest Wits 4/10
Draw 3/1
Cosmos 13/2
With Sundowns involved in Telkom Knockout action this weekend, Wits have a chance to return to the summit of the PSL log. They come into this game off the back of a 4-0 annihilation of Platinum Stars. The win was their sixth of the season and took their goals for tally up to 13. After registering their first win in week nine of the league, things were looking up for Cosmos. The euphoria of that win was to be short lived however as Ezenkosi were beaten by Black Aces a week later. The 3-1 loss was their fourth defeat of the season and has left them sitting in fourteenth place on the log. They are now in danger of being dragged into a relegation battle with the likes of Maritzburg and Tuks. I’m tipping the Clever Boys to further Cosmos’ woes with a big win on Sunday. Take the ‘Match Bet and Totals Market’ and back Withs to win and the total score to be over 2.5 goals at 5/4.
