Magic Tips Comments
The betting market indicates the highly competitive nature of this Grade 1 contest over ten furlongs to be run on handicap terms where a maximum field of 20 runners assemble. Champion trainer Sean Tarry saddles a trio of entrants, the pick of which could be his Australian import,
SAMURAI BLADE who is the mount of jockey Muzi Yeni. The brown gelding stays extremely well as his run in the Derby shows but his prep has unfortunately been interrupted by the rains on the Highveld. However, his top class conditioner should still have him tuned to the minute and the four-year-old will be aided by a likely sedate gallop from his stablemate
STONEHENGE.
The Woodruff yard dominated this event with MASTER SABINA and DEO JUVENTE last year and their pairing should again be involved in the finish. The former is yet to register a victory since that famous win but has had a better prep this time around and red- hot jockey Gavin Lerena takes the ride. The latter is 2kgs worse off as he attempts to avenge last year’s neck defeat but a better draw could make the difference. He gets the services of top jockey Anton Marcus. The Howells duo of SARATOGA DANCER and TEN GUN SALUTE must be afforded respect.
