Sharks v Griquas | Friday 4 August | Growth Point Kings Park | 19:00

To Win (80 Mins)
Sharks 1/14  | Draw 33/1 | Griquas 7/1

Handicap
Sharks 17/20 (-18.5) Griquas 17/20 (+18.5)

The Sharks
Robert du Preez made two changes ahead of his team’s home clash against the Griquas, Jean Luc Du Preez will be rested while Tyler Paul comes in at lock for injured Hyron Andrews.

The Sharks lost their opener to the Cheetahs in a game marred by their defensive errors and missed tackles. They made up for their loss in round two when they beat the Pumas 29 – 0, in a better showing of running rugby, and good scrummaging with the likes of Thomas du Toit playing their part.

Friday they’ll have to watch their defensive holes as the Griquas is an extremely good running side, evident when they posted 40 points against the Lions. Daniel du Preez, will start at eighth man – Curwin Bosch, will lead the backline at flyhalf, Lukhanyo Am and Jeremy Ward will complete the centre pairing.

Griquas
The Griquas have yet to win any of their two opening encounters, suffering two losses with their most recent against the Golden Lions 48 – 43. The Griquas showed a lot of backline flair and counter attacking play as they scored six tries against the Lions’ seven. On that evidence, there is potential there, however, their defensive frailties will need to be addressed if they are to turn their season around.

With the ability to play the same brand of rugby as the Sharks the Griquas will attempt to cause an upset at the Growthpoint Kings Park.

Verdict: Sharks 1/14
This will be a tough match for the Sharks, they’re front lines will be tested, and they have just enough to seal the win with their superior structure.
