The F1 field heads to the Circuit of the Americas this weekend for the 2019 United States Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton will be looking to seal his third successive Drivers’ Championship title when the F1 field takes to the Circuit of the Americas this weekend. Hamilton only requires a top-eight finish to seal the title. Something he should have no problems doing considering his amazing record at the track.

Mercedes put up a hell of a fight in Mexico last weekend with the unfancied Constructors’ Champions managing a double berth on the podium, with Lewis Hamilton finishing in first and Valterri Bottas in third.
Sandwiched between the duo was the Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel. The Prancing Stag actually had a decent enough race as Charles Leclerc bought his car home in fourth. However, they lightly aggrieved that they didn’t use their superior car power to finish higher up the podium.
The top six was rounded by the twin Red Bulls of Alexander Albion (fifth) and Max Verstappen (sixth).
The remainder of the ‘Top 10’ featured some familiar old faces with Sergio Perez finishing seventh, Daniel Riccardo in eight, Pierre Gasly ninth and Nico Hulkenberg 10th.
Track
The Circuit of the Americas is to F1 what Madison Square Garden was to Stadium Rock; a giant sweaty cauldron of loud echoes. The gigantic compound can hold just under 120 000 spectators and sells out year on year. It’s quite the sight and is the only circuit that provides that sort of crazy atmosphere.
Sunday’s race will see the field cover 308.405 kilometres over fifty-six laps which contain twenty corners. The first corner, which starts a hairpin turn, is the track’s most infamous bend. While the corner itself is tricky to negotiate, it is made harder by the 40-metre climb that leads into the turn.
Another set of corners that will provide a challenge is the sequence between turns three to six; they’re inspired by the Maggots and Becketts sequence at Silverstone, and like their colonial cousins, they’re more than capable of can catching drivers out.
Kimi Raikonnen was a shock victor at the track last year with Max Verstappen claiming second place and Lewis Hamilton sealing third.

Max Verstappen Podium Finish – Yes @ 11/10
I know it hasn’t come off at times this year but I really do think there’s value in Max Verstappen claiming a podium finish. Verstappen is yet to win a race at the track but he has got a podium position (2018) and a top-six finish (2017).

He’s the most successful driver in the States having won six races at the track. You’d be a fool to be against the ‘Brit this weekend.
