Odwa Ndungane

Sharks legend Odwa Ndungane played over 200 times for the side in all competitions during a distinguished 12-year career that saw him claim three Currie Cup titles.

The Mthatha-born right winger, who began his playing days at the Border Bulldogs and Blue Bulls, also earned nine Test caps for the Springboks; starting the third Test against the British & Irish Lions in 2009 and helping the side clinch the Tri-Nations later that same year.

In 2011, he was selected as part of the Boks’ World Cup squad to tour New Zealand.

But it was on the domestic front where Ndungane really thrived. A Sharks stalwart in every sense of the word, he turned out a whopping 135 times for the Durban franchise in Super Rugby and played 107 Currie Cup matches in black and white, earning him a spot on an elite list of pros to have amassed a century of caps for the same team in both competitions.

Odwa called time on his career in 2017, scoring a try in his last game during that year’s Currie Cup final.
