Very few horses have captured the imagination of the South African racing public quite like KOMMETDIEDING. A true underdog story, ‘the people’s horse’ was a R45 000 purchase by Ashwin Reynolds who has since delivered a stakes return of R3 875 100.
Despite this, it’s easy to forget that the son of Elusive Fort hasn’t tasted victory since taking out the Met last year. The five-year-old does seem to find his feet on the big days, however, winning the 2021 edition of the Hollywoodbets Durban July before claiming the 2022 Met. Gavin Lerena takes the ride again and would love to deliver a win in what could be this darling of South African racing’s final appearance before assuming stallion duties.
