More Day 1 tips from Neil Morrice:

Doom Bar Anniversary 4yo Juvenile Hurdle (Grade 1)
15:20 – Race 2 – 2M 209Y

PENTLAND HILLS (7) – 2/1
Trainer: Nicky Henderson
Jockey: Nico de Boinville

An opportunity for PENTLAND HILLS to show there was no fluke about his clear cut triumph in the Triumph Hurdle last month. On the back of one win at a minor track he overcame crowding on the turn into the straight before bounding three lengths clear of Coeur Sublime. He worked like a dream in his winding up gallop for this and is worth following until beaten.

Close Brothers Red Rum Handicap Chase
17:40 – Race 6 –  1M 7F 176Y

LADY BUTTONS (3) – 8/1
Trainer: Phil Kirby
Jockey: Thomas Dowson

Having mixed and matched between hurdles and fences this season LADY BUTTONS can give a good account over the larger obstacles here. She’s been a wonderful servant to her connections and is admirably suited by a Flat course like this, far more so than Cheltenham where she performed with credit to place in the mares’ hurdle won by Roksana. The race is fiercely competetive and so the Each Way proviso is attached, while THEINVAL comes to hand at this time of year and is worth a saver.
