Race 2: LAGO CUOMO(1)
Race 3: MISS JAMIE(2)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Jonathan SOLL – Trainer: Gavin SMITH

The Gavin Smith yard holds a strong hand here with MONEY FOR LOVE and BLUSHING PETER. The former gets the narrow first verdict. The son of Var had excuses for his last effort and has shown improved form since arriving in PE. The sprint trips may be a touch sharp for him nowadays and he made good late progress over this c & d, three runs ago on his local debut. He often runs on from off the pace so the wide draw isn’t a concern and he must be respected.

Jockey: Muzi YENI – Trainer: Tara LAING

DRILL SERGEANT is a quality stayer and he has been in cracking form. He moved up very well before being outrun late into a close third in the PE Gold Cup last time and is now best in at the weights. The son of Dynasty has a good record on this course and should take a power of beating here.

Race 6: QUEEN’S CLUB(5)
Jockey: Grant V/NIEKERK – Trainer: Grant PADDOCK

QUEEN’S CLUB is an above-average sort and he had a fair comeback run when third over nine furlongs against stronger, two weeks ago. He will strip much fitter here and drops heavily in class. The shorter trip isn’t a concern and he should go close here. However, the race isn’t straight forward and there are a few dangers.

Race 8: DANAVANO(3)

Jockey: Wayne AGRELLA – Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

This is yet another tough contest but DANAVANO bounced back to her best with an eye-catching victory over six furlongs at Fairview last time. She received a hefty five pound penalty for the win but is equally effective over this minimum trip and has strong claims of following up. There is likely to be a blistering early pace here and that will suit the daughter of Silvano.

Race 2: RUSHING STAR(3) (Each Way)
Jockey: Wayne AGRELLA – Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

RUSHING STAR is better than his moderate recent form and could be an entirely different proposition on this course. The long striding son of Windrush has shown his career best performances on this course and is bred to love this extra distance. His wide draw may not be a concern over this marathon trip and he gets another top jockey in the irons.
