Race 4

NORWEGIAN BLISS put nearly two and a half lengths between herself and the opposition when winning over 1100M on debut and could be almost anything. She jumped awkwardly, but recovered well and then kicked clear of the field at the 125M mark to win easing down and the form of that race has been franked. She would have learnt from that experience and from a handy draw two, she is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

SPANISH PEARL has finished second in two of her last three starts, the latest over 1100M, one length behind the winner when returning from an 18-week break, despite coming four wide into the home straight. She gets gate four and will have 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice to aid her cause.

ROOTS won by half a length when making her debut over six furlongs, notwithstanding being friendless in the betting markets and coming the widest of them all into the home straight. She would no doubt have come on with that run under her belt. From a drawn one outside the latter, she should be involved in the finish.

Race 5

There are three unraced runners in the field, so as is always the case in these types of races, a keen eye should be kept on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether the connection believe that they can win first time out. Any betting support for a runner or runners should be respected. Of the raced runners, PASCAL may prove to be the best. He showed plenty of determination when finishing third first time out when just over two lengths behind the winner over six furlongs, despite over racing in the early stages. He returns here from a 22-week rest, but he did win his only barrier trial to showcase his well-being and whilst having to negotiate draw nine, he looks to be the one to side with in this line-up.

STROMBUS makes his debut after having had all of four barrier trials, finishing second in the latest and one runner out of that trial has subsequently won to boost his claim for top honours. He gets gate four and if not too green, he should give a good account of himself.

UNCAGED finished fourth on debut over 1100M and then third next time out when stepping up to seven furlongs, 4.7L back from the winner, but he hung out from the turn that day and should have finished closer to the winner as a result. He has his first run since a 21 break but has had the benefit of two barrier trials, winning the first and finishing second in the latest. He jumps from a wideish draw seven, but he should appreciate the drop in trip.

Race 6

CIRCULARITY has shown steady improvement in his last three runs, culminating with a three-length victory last time out over six furlongs. He struck the front at the 200M pole that day and his jockey eased him down as he approached the finishing post, so that margin could have been extended. From a cosy gate two, he could well prove good enough to chalk up a quick double.

SPALTET won by two and a half lengths when having his first outing over 1300M and was then promptly rested for 53 weeks. He faces a wide draw ten, but the fact that his connections have brought him back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believe that he still has something more to offer them.

TORINDA is drawn one outside the latter and had his consistency rewarded with his maiden win last time out over seven furlongs by half a length. He was bumped twice going into the home turn, but still managed to finish off his race well and as such, he should be included in all bets.

Race 7

The day’s value bet, MISS SCALINI is a 5yr mare taking on the boys, but she followed up her penultimate run victory over 1500M with a fourth-place finish next time out over a mile, 1.8L adrift of the winner, even though she shifted out over the latter stages. She has cracked pole position and will also have 3kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice.

ONEMORECHOICE also won his penultimate outing, but in his case, over today’s distance and then went on to finish second over the same c&d next time out, just a neck behind the winner. He took the lead as the pack entered the home stretch that day and was only snared in the shadow of the post.

LORD HERON put his slightly disappointing effort in his penultimate start over a mile firmly behind him when ending up in seventh spot last time out over 1300M, but only two lengths back from the winner. He tried to go from jump to wire that day and from draw three, he is likely to adopt similar tactics here and could prove difficult to reel in over the latter stages of the contest.
