Race 5

POSEIDON RULER followed up his penultimate run victory over seven furlongs with a third place finish when stepping up to a mile, just under a length and a half behind the winner. He was some way back from the leaders when coming wide into the home straight, but finished off his race strongly. He faces a wide draw twelve, but he should be doing his best work late.

Two 4yr old fillies could chase him home, with the slight preference going to ALL THAT SASS who was bumped down at the start before becoming unbalanced at the top of the straight to finish second in her last outing over six furlongs, just under a half length back from the winner. She gets a wideish gate nine, but on the plus side, she will have 4kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.

UNEARTHED stayed on well when ending up in sixth place last time out over 1300M, 3.2L behind the winner when returning from an 18 week rest. She is drawn one inside the latter and should be included in all bets.

Race 6

POWERING has turned in two solid last efforts, winning the latest over seven furlongs by a short-head. He finished strongly that day, suggesting that the extra ground on offer today will be to his liking. He will have to negotiate draw ten, but nevertheless, he is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card.

HEREDERO is seldom far off the action and tried to go from jump to wire before finishing sixth last time out over 1300M, just over a length and a half back from the victor. He is drawn the widest of them all in gate fourteen, but given his style of racing he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

GLENBURN HOTEL won his penultimate start over seven furlongs by 5.8L and then finished third next time out over a mile, just a half length behind the winner, notwithstanding coming three wide into the home stretch. He should not be easily overlooked in this line-up.

Race 7

The day’s best bet, ONEMORE SAPPHIRE jumped awkwardly, but then made good late progress to finish ninth last time out over ten furlongs, 5.8L back from the winner, but that was at a far stronger center and he may prove too good for this field. He jumps from gate six and should chalk up his sixth career victory.

BIRDONAWINNINGPOST is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys, but she overraced in the early stages before understandably having nothing extra to come over the closing stages before finishing fourth over a mile last time out, four and a half lengths adrift of the winner. She is drawn the widest of the field in gate ten, but if settling today, she should keep the top choice honest.

ARABOLINI stayed on well when finishing eighth in his last outing in a feature race over 2100M. He has a kinder draw five and should be involved in the finish.

Race 8

FREE RIDER chocked up and made an abnormal respiratory noise when disappointing last time out when sixth over six furlongs, but that effort should be totally ignored as he put that completely behind him when finishing sixth last time out over six furlongs, just 1.3L behind the winner. He is clearly over that setback and from a handy gate three, he looks to be the one that they all have to beat.

BUDHWAR tried to go from gun to tape before dead-heating last time out over 1300M, with the third horse a half length back and the form of that race has been franked. He returns from a 12 week rest, but he has had the benefit of a barrier trial where he finished second. His wide draw thirteen is a concern, but he is likely to use his early speed to shift across without consuming too much gas.

DYNAMITED faces a wider draw fifteen, but showed solid improvement to win his latest outing over six furlongs by one length in spite of being friendless in the betting markets. He hit the front at the 300M mark that day and then held off all the late challengers over the latter stage of the contest. If able to confirm that last effort, he should be right up there in the mix.
