Race 4

The five late scratchings in the race has not made finding the winner any easier and two 3yr old fillies could end up fighting out the finish to complete the exacta. IN FLANDERS has shown steady improvement in her last three runs, the latest when finishing second over 1100M at this track, just a neck behind the winner when returning from a 15-week break. She was hampered entering the straight that day and could just about won that contest but for that incident. She jumps from gate two and could be the one to side with here.

IMPRESSIVE LASS made solid improvement to finish fourth last time out over 1100M, just over one length back from the winner. She was returning from an even longer 18-week absence that day and did come four wide into the home straight, before making good late progress in the dash down to the wire. The form of that race has stood up well and although now drawn in gate eight, she should keep the top choice honest.

VITAL VERSE has only had the two runs to date. He finished second over this c&d last time out and was then moved to a new trainer. He returns from a 37-week rest but has had the benefit of two barrier trials, winning the latest to prove his well-being. He will have to negotiate draw ten, but should not be easily overlooked in this line-up.

Race 5

JAUHERA is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she has finished third in her first two runs, the latest when just over a length adrift of the victor when stepping up to a mile, after making her debut over 1300M. She stayed on well that day, suggesting the further increase in distance will be to her liking. She has cracked pole position and should be right up there when they hit the line.

LAVA finished sixth last time out over nine furlongs 4.9L behind the winner, but was severely hampered at the 300M mark and did well to finish as close to the winner as he did. He is drawn in gate seven and gets the services of ex-SA jockey Keagan Latham, so will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

CHENIN BLANC did, in fact, finish 0.4L in front of the latter in the race referred to above and did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight, so he too should have finished closer to the victor. He faces the widest draw of them all, which won’t make his task easy. The pair finished in front of four other runners in today’s field and should be able to confirm that last result here.

Race 6

STOLTZ missed out on his hat-trick when finishing fourth in his last start over 1300M, just over a length and a half behind the winner. He was bumped at the 150M mark that day which clearly hampered his chances of winning. His record of five runs for two wins and one second place finish is encouraging and from his handy draw two, he will be looking to bounce back to winning ways today. As such, he is taken to be the best bet on the program.

VOX POP followed up his penultimate run victory over this trip with a fourth place finish next time out over the same distance. He stayed on well that day and from draw four, he could emerge as the biggest danger to the top pick.

HINCHBEAST has his first run since a 33-week break, but has had the two barrier trials to showcase his fitness. He finished sixth in his last run prior to the rest, eleven lengths back from the winner, which was way below the form shown in his four runs before that effort. If returning to his previous form, he should be involved in the finish here.

Race 7

EXPAT is a speedy sort who won by a neck over 1100M at this venue on debut, despite being friendless in the betting markets. Two runners from that race have won subsequently to strengthen that formline. She would no doubt have come on with the run under her belt and whilst drawn wide in gate thirteen, given her style of racing, she should be able to tack across without using up too much energy.

ZOUMIST won over this c&d three runs back and was unbalanced at the 600M mark when finishing eighth last time out over seven furlongs, but just 3.3L behind the winner. She drops back in trip to what could be a more suitable six furlongs sprint and gets a set of blinkers fitted for the first time today. If these have the desired effect, she should be considered a big runner here, jumping from draw seven.

SATIN RUBY is drawn one inside the latter and showed marked improvement last time out when ending up in second place, just a neck behind the winner. He was returning from an 18-week break that day, but if he has continued down that same path, be should be included in all bets.
