The powerful Chris Waller stable could dominate the finish to this race and complete the trifecta, but RUBAMOS is taken to lead them home. He won his maiden race over 1300M by some three lengths at the second time of asking and clearly has some ability. He hit the front at the 300M mark and then proceeded to stride away from the opposition. He was returning from a 38 week break that day and from a handy gate two, he could be the stable elect. TYCOONIST followed up his penultimate run victory over 1300M with a sixth place finish next time out over seven furlongs, just under four and a half lengths behind the winner. He did however strike the running rail at the 1000M mark that day, which would not have helped his cause. He faces a wide gate ten, but on the plus side he will have 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice. HOT SPRING GOLD won his last outing over six furlongs by just under a length when returning from a 14 week break. He jumped awkwardly that day, but recovered well to finish strongly over the closing stages. He is drawn one inside the latter and should keep his stable companions honest.
Today’s value bet, MR DEPENDABLE was a jump to wire 1.3L winner of his last start over 1550M. He has his peak run here after returning from a lengthy 37 week absence, but from his draw six, he is likely to attempt similar tactics here and could prove hard to overhaul over the closing stages of this contest. PESTO came five wide into the home straight before ending up in second place last time out over seven furlongs, just under a half length behind the winner. He attracted plenty of betting support that day and from a wideish gate nine, he will be looking to make amends here today. ITZ LILY is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys, but she has won three out of her last four runs and put her disappointing penultimate effort firmly behind her to bounce back to winning ways last time out over 1500M, winning by a head. She had to survive an objection that day and has a tricky draw eleven out of thirteen, but she should be included in all bets.
MORE PROPHETS is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she has an impressive record to date, having had eight runs for three firsts, two seconds and three third place finishes. She jumped awkwardly last time out and found herself at the rear of the field and then only saw daylight at the 280M mark before finishing powerfully to put four and a half lengths between herself and the opposition over the seven furlong trip. She has a wide draw ten, but given her style of running, she is likely to be dropped out it in the early stages and then use that finishing bust to mow down the field. She is nominated as the best bet on the program. COUNT DE RUPEE returns from a 14 week rest, but has had the benefit of a barrier trial, which he won. He also finished well to win his last start over six furlongs by a neck and the form of that race has stood up well with five runners subsequently winning. From his cozy draw three, he could emerge as the biggest threat to the top pick. EL BUENA is drawn one inside the latter and showed marked improvement to win his last outing over six furlongs by a short-head, this despite being held up entering the straight. He was friendless in the betting markets that day, but a repeat of that effort would see him right up there when they hit the line.
LE GAI SOLEIL is a 4yr old filly taking on boys, but she won her latest outing over seven furlongs when returning from a 20 week break. She was bumped at the start that day and was also reported to have been cut into, so that victory was full of merit. She has gate five and may prove good enough to complete a quick double. LINA’S HERO has consistent formlines to his name and finished second in his last outing over 1550m, 1.3L back from the victor. He has a wideish gate eight, but the gelding should turn in another honest performance today. BOUND TO WIN is another 4yr old filly in the race. She was the widest when straightening and then made good late progress to end up in second place last time out over six furlongs, just a head back from the winner. She has also finished fourth in a subsequent barrier trial. She will have to overcome a wide gate fifteen, but with some luck in running, she could make her presence felt in this line-up.
