Race 4.

SHELBY SIXTYSIX has only had the six runs to date, posting two wins, two second place finishes and one third place, which was his latest start over 1100M, ending up just over a length behind the winner, but the form of that race has stood up well. He finished well that day suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to his liking. He is drawn in gate seven and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card. DENIM STREET is a 6yr old mare taking on the boys, but she has consistent formlines to her name and finished fourth in her last outing over seven furlongs, just over two and a half lengths back from the victor. Two runners from that race have subsequently won, so that form is solid. She faces a wide draw ten, but she should give the males a good run for their money. SALOME tried to go from jump to wire before ending up in fifth place last time out over six furlongs, but he was only run out of it late, finishing 2.2L adrift of the winner. From gate five, he should be involved in the finish.

Race 5.

PINDARRA’S DREAM is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she showed marked improvement to win her last start over 1007M by just over a length when returning from a 13 week rest. She hit the front as the field entered the home straight and then fought off all challengers in the dash down to the wire. She jumps from gate six and could prove to be the one that they all have to beat. NOSTRO RE was slightly disappointing when ending up in seventh place last time out over five furlongs, 6.8L back from the winner, but he raced four wide turning for home that day and the form of that race has been franked. He has cracked pole position and if recapturing his previous form here, he should be a force to be reconned with. LEG WORK on the other hand has drawn wide in gate twelve, but he finished strongly to end up in second spot in his latest outing over seven furlongs, just a head back from the winner. Given his style of racing, he is likely to be dropped out of it early and then start picking off the frontrunner over the closing stages of the contest.

Race 6.

Three 3yr old fillies could dominate the finish to this race and complete the trifecta, but the day’s value bet, BEL SUONO is taken to lead them home. She has only had the four runs to date and was making good late progress to finish fifth last time out over six furlongs, just over four lengths behind the victor. She gets a hand draw three and should be right up there when they hit the line. TOOSTAR was cut into when ending up in fifth place last time out over 1900M, just over two lengths behind the winner and was immediately rested for eighteen weeks. She returns after having had the benefit of two barrier trials, finishing third in the latest. She takes a big drop in distance, but just may do better as a result. AL SAHARA has recorded three seconds and two third place finishes in her last five starts, the latest when third over a mile, three lengths adrift of the victor. She returns from a 19 week break and two barrier trials, finishing second in the latest. She is likely to turn in another honest performance today.

Race 7.

ZOU ISLAND is a 3yr old filly taking on boys, but she followed up her penultimate run victory over 1280M with a seventh place finish next time out over 1300M, 2.3L back from the winner. She tried to make every post a winning post that day and did battled all the way down to the line, which is encouraging. She has her peak run here after returning from a 24 week absence and from gate three, she should be respected in this line-up. HIDDEN HILLS finished seventh last time out over 1250m when returning from a lengthy 32 week break, but he overraced in the early stages of that race and then came three wide into the straight, so that effort is best ignored. He jumps from gate six and should not be easily ignored in this field. CHAIRMAN’S CHOICE made solid improvement to finish third last time out over this c&d, just over a length back from the winner. He was staying on well that day and notwithstanding his wide draw eleven, he should be included in all bets as he is likely to be doing his best work late.
