Race 5

This looks to be a tricky race with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. WE’RE OFF has finished second in both of his runs over six furlongs since returning from a 30 week break, the latest when one length behind the winner, this despite being friendless in the betting markets. He stayed on well that day and although having to negotiate the widest draw of them all in gate eleven, he could be the one to side with here.

KARIBA is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys, but she has finished closer to the winner in each of her last three runs, the latest when third over 1300M, two lengths back from the winner. She pulled hard in the middle stages and had to be checked between the 900M and 800M marks that day, so did well to end up as close to the victor as she did. She has cracked pole position and should give the males a good run for their money.

MYSTIC VEIN followed up his penultimate run victory over 1300M with a fourth place finish next time out over six furlongs, just a half length adrift of the winner. The gelding jumps from gate five and should be included in all bets.

Race 6

The day’s best bet, DEADLY IMPACT had his consistency rewarded with his second career victory last time out when winning by a neck over ten furlongs. He came four wide into the home straight that day, but then put his act together to finish strongly and win going away from the opposition at the business end of the race. He has pulled pole position and on that last effort, he may prove to be difficult to topple in this line-up.

A 7yr old mare and a 4yr old filly may be the ones to chase him home, with the slight preference going to ICECRUSHER. She is seldom far off the action and finished second in her latest outing over nine furlongs, 0.8L back from the winner. She was denied a clear run at the 400M pole, but recovered well to finish off her race well. She faces a wide gate ten, but she should be doing her best work late.

PERFECT RADIANCE showed marked improvement to win her last start over 1850M by nearly two lengths. She went from jump to wire that day and from draw seven, she could be involved in the finish once again.

Race 7

CRAZY TRAIN has consistent formlines to her name and finished third in her last start over seven furlongs, just a neck behind the winner. She jumped awkwardly that day and had to be held up entering the home stretch, but once clear, she accelerated well, suggesting that the extra ground on offer today will be to her liking. She has a handy draw two and should be right up there in the firing line.

ALUMNA won her penultimate start over seven furlongs and then finished in fourth spot next time out when stepping up to 1500M, 4.3L behind the winner. She did however stay on well over the latter stages and from gate five, she should make her presence felt here.

LINGUEE did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight before ending up in seventh spot last time out over 1300M, 5.2L back from the winner. She has a wideish draw eight, but with better luck in running today, she should not be easily overlooked.

Race 8

CONGLOMERATE had finished second twice prior to ending up in third place last time out over five furlongs, just under a half length behind the winner. He was slow away that day before overracing in the middle stages and having to be eased at the 500M mark, but did stay on well over the latter stages of the contest. He jumps from a cozy gate four and is taken to be the value bet on the card.

CAPITAL REIGN is drawn one outside the former and has only had the three runs to date, finishing third on debut and then winning his next two runs, the first over 900M and the latest over five furlongs by just under a length. He showed plenty of toe in that victory and may emerge as the biggest threat to the top choice.

PARACHUTER is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she won her last start over 1100M by just under a half length despite being hampered at the 600M mark and was immediately rested for 24 weeks. She returns here after turning in two encouraging barrier trials and from draw seven, she should keep the boys honest.
