Race 5

CATHAY is a speedy sort who showed solid improvement when trying to go from jump to wire before ending up in second place last time out over six furlongs, just a length and a half behind the winner. The form of that race has been franked and although she faces a wideish gate seven, on the plus side, she will have 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice. AJA CHABOOGIE is seldom far off the action and finished third last time out over this trip, just over two and a half lengths back from the winner. She was returning from a 22-week break that day and from her handy draw four, she should turn in another honest performance here. SALATEEN had her consistency reward with a neck victory last time out over 1300M, this despite overracing in early and middle stages of the race. She returns from a 35-week break, but has had the benefit of two barrier trials to showcase her well-being. She jumps from gate six and should be right up there when they hit the line.

Race 6

EQUATION has only had the two runs to date and showed the expected improvement to win at the second time of asking over 1100M, by nearly two and a half lengths. He obviously has some ability as he was hampered at the jump and then proceeded to overraced in the early and middle stages of the race. Then to add insult to injury, he only saw daylight at the 150M mark before mowing down the opposition. He returns from a 35 week break, but has had the two barrier trials to prove his fitness. From draw two, he looks to be the one to side with here. CONSCRIPT has his first run since a 16 week rest, during which time he was gelded. He has however had one barrier trial. His career record of four starts for two wins and a second place finish is not too shabby, so from gate four, he could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice. BLUE SKY MOON jumped awkwardly before recovering well to win by a head when making his debut over six furlongs. He has cracked pole position and should be included in all bets.

Race 7

SO UNITED was well supported in the betting markets when finishing second last time out over this distance, just over one length behind the winner. He took over the running from the 800M pole that day and was only run out of it in the dying stages of the contest. He is drawn in gate three and will be hoping to make amends today. DUCHESS OF WINDSOR is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys and is drawn in gate five. She renews her rivalry with the top pick who she beat by that 1.3L in the race referred to above. She was friendless in the betting markets and showed marked improvement in her form that day. She is 1kg worse off at today’s weight terms and a form reversal looks a distinct possibility. SAVVY VALENTINO has solid staying form to his credit and finished second in his last outing over thirteen furlongs, just 0.4L back from the winner. He hit the front at the 200M mark that day and was only collared close to home. He will have to negotiate draw ten out of eleven, but he is likely to enjoy the drop in distance.

Race 8

TAKE TO HEART is a 5yr mare taking on males, but she has improved in her last three runs, culminating with a short-head victory last time out over seven furlongs. She finished strongly that day suggesting that the extra ground available here will be to her liking. She jumps from draw seven and is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card. ANOTHERTHINKCOMIN’ has only had the two runs to date, but he won his latest outing by nearly four lengths when stepping up from his 1100M debut to 1300M, this despite jumping awkwardly. He is drawn one outside the former and could well be looking for this greater test of stamina. BIRDONAWINNINGPOST is a 4yr old filly who put over three lengths between herself and the opposition to win her last start over 1700M. She is thus proven over this sort of distance and should be right up there in the mix.
