Race 6.

There are nine unraced runners in the field, so as is always the case in these types of races, a keen eye should be kept on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether the connection believe that they can win first time out. Any betting support for a runner or runners should be respected. Of the raced runners SHALSTAR may prove to be the best. She is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she was slow away and came the widest into the home straight when finishing second on debut over five furlongs, just under a length behind the winner. She struck the front at the 100M mark and was only denied victory in the shadow of the post. No doubt she would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, she could be the one that they all have to beat, despite facing a wideish draw eight. BULLINACHINASHOP is another 3yr old filly in the race. She finished fourth on debut and was then rested for 18 weeks, finishing third over the same trip on her return, just under a length and a half back from the winner. She had to be held up approaching the home turn that day, but still made good late progress over the closing stages. From her kinder draw three, she should be right up there when they hit the line. SQUEEAK had solid form before being slightly disappointing last time out when finishing eighth over five furlongs, 9.4L back from the winner, but he overraced in the early stages and had to be checked off the heels of other runners at the 500M mark, so that performance can probably be forgiven. He will have to negotiate draw nine, but he should keep the girls honest.

Race 7.

KOONDEEMAN tried to go from jump to wire before ending up in third place last time out over seven furlongs, just under a half-length behind the winner, when returning from a 24-week break. He attracted plenty of betting support that day and from his handy draw three, he will be hoping to make amends today. Two 4yr old fillies could chase him home, with the slight preference going to AL SAHARA who finished second in her latest outing over a mile, just a half-length back from the victor. She came three-wide into the home straight that day, but stayed on well over the latter stages. She has her peak run after returning from a 29-week absence and will have to overcome a wide draw fourteen, but she should be doing her best work late. FUSAICHI FAMILY had her consistency rewarded when winning her maiden race last time out over a mile by just under half a length. She jumped awkwardly and also lost a shoe in running that day, so that effort was encouraging. she takes on stronger here, but from gate five, she should be included in all bets.

Race 8.

The day’s best bet, MOBSTAR has only had the two runs to date and followed up his debut victory over 1280M with a second place finish next time out over 1450M, 0.8L off the winner. He attracted plenty of betting support that day and looked the likely winner when he kicked clear of the field at the 200M pole, only to be run out of it just short of the winning post. From his cozy draw four, he could prove difficult to topple in this line-up. STILL IN FASHION had consistent formlines before winning his last outing over 1450M by one length. He returns from a 43-week absence but did finish fourth in his only barrier trial. The fact that his connections have brought him back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believe that he still has something more to offer them. NICATOR was carrier out wide from the 100M mark before finishing third last time out over 1100M, beaten just under two lengths and had his objection against the second horse for that movement overruled, but the form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. He has his peak run after returning from a 28 week absence and jumps from gate six, as well as having 2kgs removed from his back courtesy of his claiming apprentice to aid his cause.

Race 9.

A 5yr old mare and a 4yr old filly could fight out the finish to this race and secure the exacta, but the day’s value bet, FLASH POINT is taken to lead the pack home. She raced in tight quarters from the 150M mark before ending up in second spot last time out over five furlongs, just a half-length behind the winner. She was returning from a 28-week break that day and the form of that race has been franked. She gets gate seven and with better luck in running here, she could be the one to side with. LADY RIVER was injured in running when finishing seventh in her latest outing over 1100M, 4.3L behind the winner, so that effort is best ignored. Her form prior to that run was solid and whilst draw wideish in gate nine, she will get a set of blinkers fitted for the first time and if these have the desired effect, she should be a big runner here. TOTO is seldom far off the action and jumped awkwardly last time out when finishing third over 1100M, 1.8L back from the winner. He stayed on well that day and will have his peak run since returning from a 32-week break. The gelding faces a wide draw twelve, but nevertheless, he should not be overlooked here.
