Race 5.

The day’s best bet, FREEDOM SQUARE won his penultimate run over a mile and then followed that up with a second place finish next time out when stepping up to nine furlongs, 0.8L behind the winner. He jumped awkwardly that day and then came three wide into the home straight, before staying on well over the closing stages and the form of that race has been franked. He gets a handy draw four and will get 3kgs taking off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice to aid his cause. RODRICK’S SECRET also won his penultimate outing over a mile and then ended up in fifth place next time out over nine furlongs, just over two and a half lengths adrift of the victor. He was making good late progress in that contest and from his pole position, he could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice. FOXTROT BRAVO has hade solid improvement in his last two starts, finishing a one length second in the latest run over a mile after being slow away. He ran on powerfully that day and if he is able to confirm that last effort, he should be involved in the finish, despite having a wideish gate seven.

Race 6.

DARK ENERGY hit the front at the 350M mark and then held off all the late challengers when winning his maiden race by 2.3L last time out over a mile. He takes on stronger here, but the form of that race has been franked and from pole position, he looks to be the one to side with in this line-up. BELLE ESPOIR is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she has consistent formlines to her name, finishing second last time out over 1500M, one length back from the winner. She tried to go from jump to wire in that race and was hampered at the 200M pole, so that effort was encouraging. She gets draw six and seems likely to turn in another honest performance today. VIVENZO is seldom far off the action, finishing second in his latest outing over a mile, a half length behind the winner. He is drawn in gate eight out of ten, but on the plus side, he will get 2kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice and should be included in all bets.

Race 7.

BITCOIN BABY won her debut outing over five furlongs and then jumped awkwardly and finding herself towards the back of the field, before finishing well to end up in fifth place next time out when stepping up to six furlongs, three and a half lengths behind the winner. She was immediately rested for 21 weeks and returns here after having had the benefit of two barrier trials, finishing fourth in the latest. She will have to negotiate draw eight, but nevertheless she is taken to be the value bet on the day’s program. VICTORELLA has finished closer to the winner in each of her last three runs, culminating with a 0.8L victory last time out over 1100M. She kicked clear of the opposition at the 200M pole that day and was then able to fend off all the late challengers in the dash down to the finishing post. She gets a kinder draw four and should be right up there in the mix. SILK TIE won her penultimate start over five furlongs when returning from a 23 week absence and was then hampered 25M from the line when finishing third last time out over six furlongs, 2.3L off the winner. She faces a wide gate ten, but should not be easily overlooked.

Race 8.

KA BLING has only had the three runs to date, finishing third on debut and then winning at the second time of asking, before ending up in second spot last time out over six furlongs, just the one length behind the winner. He did come four wide into the home stretch in that contest, hitting the front at the 200M mark before eventually being run out of it very late. He attracted plenty of betting support that day and notwithstanding a wide gate twelve, he could make amends today. DEHORNED UNICORN has also only had the three outings, but he claimed victory last time out when winning by 1.3L over five furlongs when returning from a 25 week break. Unlike the top pick, he was friendless in the betting markets that day and from a cozy draw two, he should keep the top selection honest. ELECTRIC is drawn in gate five and finished third over six furlongs first time out and then showed the expected improvement to win his next start over the same trip by a head. He is a speedy sort who went from gun to tape for that win and then had to survive an objection for shifting out over the latter stages of the race. The form of that race has however stood up well with three runners out of that contest subsequently winning. He returns from a 19 week rest, but did finish fourth in his only barrier trial to prove his fitness.
