Race 6.

Although IMPORTANT PRODUCT is recorded as finishing nineth in his last start over 1100M, just under four lengths behind the winner, that was at a stronger center and he was trapped three wide during the race. He stayed on well that day and whilst drawn the widest of them all in gate thirteen, he should be doing his best work late. NO DEBT followed up his penultimate run victory over 1300M with a second place finish next time out over 1280M, just over half a length back from the winner. He attracted plenty of betting support that day and was only collared late after setting the pace. He gets gate eight and should be right up there when they hit the line. DON’T QUESTION ME is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys, but she has consistent formlines to her name, finishing third in her last three outings, the latest over seven furlongs, just under a length back from the winner. From her handy draw four and with 2kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice, she should turn in another honest performance today.

Race 7.

ORIENTAL RUNNER had to be eased off the heels of other runners at the 700M mark and then came three wide into the home straight before ending up in seventh place last time out over six furlongs, just under four and a half lengths adrift of the winner, but that was at a stronger center and he should be a big runner in this line-up. He faces a wideish gate nine, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without burning up too much energy. ELUSIVE EAGLE on the other hand has cracked pole position. He overraced in the early and middle stages and then understandably had little extra to offer in the closing stages when finishing fourth last time out over 1100M, just under four lengths off the victor. If settling in the race today, he should keep the top choice honest. BOMBDIGGITY has won two of his last four runs and finished third last time out over 1100M, 3.8L back from the winner. he was slow away that day and found himself at the back of the field and had to come the widest into the home straight, but stayed on well over the latter stages. The gelding is drawn one outside the latter and will get the services of a 2kg claiming apprentice.

Race 8.

The day’s best bet, NOT NEGOTIATING is a 6yr old mare taking on males, but she is a six-time winner so far, including her last start over a mile when winning by just over half a length and the form of that race has stood up well with two runners from that contest subsequently winning. She finished strongly for that victory suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to her liking. From a cozy draw four, she will also get 2kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice to aid her cause and may prove difficult to topple. ATHENA’S LAD is drawn one outside the top pick and has finished closer to the winner in each of his last four outings, culminating with a just over half a length win last time out over nine furlongs and the form of that race has been franked. He could emerge as the biggest danger to the former. NIECES AND NEPHEWS is another who has won his last start, but in his case over a mile, albeit by just a short-head. He sat some way back that day by wore down the leaders in the home straight to get up in the shadow of the post. He is drawn the widest of the lot in gate twelve, but given his style of racing, he should once again be doing his best work late.

Race 9.

IT’S BUSINESS TIME won his penultimate start over 900M when returning from an 82 week absence and was then a tad disappointing when finishing fourth last time out over 1012M, just under five lengths behind the winner, but the blinkers get re-fitted for today’s run and if this move has the desired effect, he should be one of the leading contenders here. He gets gate eight and the fact that his connections have brought him back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believe that he still has something more to offer them. As such, he is taken to be the value bet on the day’s program. A 5yr old mare and a 4yr old filly could chase him home with the slight preference going to KNOW WHERE TO LOOK who had solid form before disappoint last time out, finishing last over seven furlongs, 9.2L adrift of the victor, but she did come three wide into the home stretch that day and was badly hampered at the 200M pole. She returns from a 29 week break, but has had the two barrier trials, finishing third in both. She gets draw three and will have 2kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice. FRENCH FACTOR finished a 1.8L fourth in her latest outing over 900M when returning from a lengthy 43 weeks, but four runners out of that race have subsequently won, so that form looks strong. She is sure to put her pole position to go use and should be included in all bets.
