The four-year old gelding IT’S MY TURN put up a gallant display with front-running tactics in the July but ultimately seemed just one run short of being at his best. The weight structure in today’s Grade 1 contest makes his task extremely difficult of reversing that latest formline with the likes of MARINARESCO and BLACK ARTHUR, but this son of Dynasty could employ similar tactics to great effect in and event which lacks pace. It is most encouraging that top jockey Piere Strydom retains the ride on the son of Dynasty.
The Silvano gelding MARINARESCO won the hearts of many with a pulsating last performance to have even more supporters today as he attempts to defend his crown.
CAPTAIN AMERICA had the run of the race when he easily beat many of today’s rivals, including MARINARESCO in the Gold Challenge over a mile last time and was freshened up after his conditioner opted against going for the ‘July’. The six-year old is best treated at the weights on official ratings and is a huge contender for his yard who has had a great winter season in the province.
