Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

GONE BABY GONE made the expected improvement second time out when he ran on nicely for a close third against winners over 1500m in yielding conditions on this course, two weeks ago. The son of Greys Inn drops in class and should take a power of beating.

Race 5: STAR POINT(11)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

STAR POINT made an eye-catching debut when he ran on nicely for a close third in yielding conditions over six furlongs on this course, two weeks ago. The son of Fort Wood would have benefitted greatly from the experience and should have lots of improvement to come. His pedigree suggests that he could turn into a nice stayer. The obvious concern is how he handles the turn for the first time but he should go very close here.

Jockey: Keagan DE MELO – Trainer: Yogas GOVENDER

The Yogas Govender stable has had a quiet time in KZN recently but they had a winner last Wednesday and that could spark a decent run of form. The stable saddles the pair of PREMIUM WOOD and MALIYAKHE in this event and could dominate this competitive handicap. Both runners have won on this track and will love the likely blistering pace. There are at least three natural pacesetters here and that will play right into the hands of the above pairing. The former is the mount of young De Melo and gets the narrow first selection. The son of Fort Wood was highly regarded as a three-year old but failed to live up to expectations. However, he is starting to show again and he finished strongly for second over six furlongs behind a quality sort last time out. He is at his best over a mile and beyond but as mentioned above the pace could suit him down to the ground.

Race 9: SEMRA(16)

Jockey: Sean VEALE – Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

SEMRA made an eye-catching debut when she flew late to finish a close second in late June. She then got going too late when a respectable third against winners over 1500m in yielding conditions, two weeks ago and surprisingly reverts to sprinting today. However, those experiences would have brought her on nicely and she does seem to have a bit of class about her. She is drawn favourably and could take some beating here.

Race 4: BRYONYBRIGHTWATE(11) (Each Way)
Jockey: MJ BYLEVELD – Trainer: Deon VISSER

BRYONYBRIGHTWATER has had two fair sprints to date and looks set to make good improvement over the mile today. The daughter of Dupont is handily drawn at barrier 3 and should go well in this field.
