Winning Form Best Bets
Race 1: SHEER DYNAMITE(1)
Race 2: JUNGLE SKYLINE(5)
Race 3: YOU BEAUTY(4)
Race 7: CODE OF HONOUR(6)
Race 3: YOU BEAUTY(4) – TOP BET
Jockey: Juan-Paul v.d.MERWE – Trainer: Glen KOTZEN
YOU BEAUTY has shown lots of promise and looked home on her seasonal debut over six furlongs on this course last time before being pegged back late by the rank outsider, Hurricane Wind. However, she was returning from a 12 week absence and may have just needed the run and will strip much fitter today. The daughter of Carpocrates has already dealt with this extra furlong and has bright claims of going one better. She is also likely to adopt similar frontrunning tactics from her very good draw and could again have the measure of her obvious danger, JET FLO. The latter found tons of betting support when she made her debut in the same contest as the top rating, two weeks ago. The daughter of Jet Master raced in touch but took off late and was only a further neck behind the top rating. That run would have brought her on considerably and the extra furlong will be right up her street. However, her 11 draw is a major worry and she has her work cut-out to reverse the form.
Race 4: BEULAH(2)
Jockey: Muzi YENI – Trainer: Riaan VAN REENEN
An interesting contest where just 9 stayers go to post but there could still be a decent gallop here. BEULAH is a course specialist that has been in very good form but was withdrawn after being carded to race at this venue on 25/09. She was reportedly lame on the day which is of grave concern but her conditioner obviously feels that she has overcome the obstacle as she races a mere three weeks later. The daughter of Badger’s Drift has campaigned against much stronger and went close over a mile on this track, last time out. She finished out of the money in her only start over this trip but that was in a listed feature and she was far from disgraced. The manner with which she finishes her races suggests that she will easily handle this trip and she is a definite contender with Yeni up.
Race 6: VICTORY CRUISE(6)
Jockey: Anthony ANDREWS – Trainer: Glen KOTZEN
There are again some very speedy sorts and they could well disrupt each other’s fluency. However, VICTORY CRUISE will love that likely blistering pace as he sets out to avenge the narrow defeat he suffered to TRADE EMBLEM over this c & d, three weeks ago. Of course, the son of Victory Moon was desperately unlucky to lose that day as he found lots of traffic problems after turning for home. He was also returning from an 11 week break so will strip much fitter. He has strong claims of reversing the form despite being 1kg worse off with his conqueror.
Race 7: SILVER BLUFF(9)
This is an interesting contest as some really smart three-year olds concede chunks of weight to their limited older counterparts. However, SILVER BLUFF could benefit from receiving some weight from the three-year olds. This son of Silvano is still lightly raced but has shown his best form over this trip. He took just three runs to shed his maiden tag but lost his way for a while when trying ground. However, he returned to form when he stayed on nicely for third in heavy conditions over this trip at Kenilworth last time, despite being slow into stride. He should handle this slight rise in class and deserves respect from a handy draw.
VALUE BET FOR TODAY:
Race 2: TOROTINO(2) (Each Way)
Jockey: Glen HATT – Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD
This is a tricky contest as the likely short-priced favourite, JUNGLE SKYLINE has drawn widest of all and that throws this race wide open. TOROTINO has had numerous chances but showed plenty of promise prior to his last few starts. He needed his comeback run in his penultimate outing but showed signs of a form return when making steady progress for fourth behind easy winner Hancock’s Dynasty over this c & d, three weeks ago. The son of Toreador has met some useful sorts along the way and should be cherry-ripe on his third run after the rest today. He jumps from a handy draw and Glen Hatt knows him well.
