Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: SANDY BAY(5)
Jockey: Donavon DILLON – Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

SANDY BAY has shown smart improvement in recent outings and she was outrun late into a creditable 3rd in open company over seven furlongs at Kenilworth in early May. She would have strengthened further during the short absence and the imported bay filly should continue to progress. She faces a weak field and should go very close over this shorter trip. The obvious worry is how she will handle this track.

Race 3: WORLD IN UNION(13)
Jockey: Donovan DILLON – Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

The very well-bred Australian import WORLD IN UNION made the expected improvement when he went close to winning his second outing. He raced handy throughout and only failed narrowly when trying the mile but should continue to progress. Today’s slight drop in distance won’t be an issue for the Street Cry colt who still has huge room for improvement. He jumps from a decent draw on his track debut and is the one to beat.

Jockey: Corne OFFER – Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD

The Brett Crawford stable holds a strong hand in this maiden plate and GOLD COAST CAPTAIN gets the narrow first verdict, courtesy of his track experience. The well-bred son of Captain Al is holding his form but he perhaps just needed his comeback sprint after a 15-week break. He will certainly strip a fitter horse today and had a decent penultimate run over a similar trip on this track.

Race 5: RED PERIL(4)

Jockey: Craig DU PLOOY – Trainer: Billy PRESAGE

The game frontrunner RED PERIL has bounced back to form recently and his tactics should very effective on this circuit. He has the beating of a few of today’s rivals on recent performances and should go close from his handy draw.

Jockey: Donovan DILLON – Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

BRITISH FAIRY showed blistering speed when equipped with blinkers for the first time recently. He did make slight improvement over the six furlongs that day but the minimum trip on this track could be ideal for the Ramsden inmate and he could be the ‘dark horse’ here. He should comfortably overcome his wide draw.
