Winning Form Best Bets

Race 1: CALICO(12)
Race 2: QUEEN’S HALL(7)
Race 6: PARADISE COVE(10)
Race 7: DOGMATISM(9)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: KING’S FIRE(5)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA – Trainer: Renate DU PLESSIS

KING’S FIRE was outclassed in feature company in yielding conditions last time but she had solid form prior to that and takes a big drop in class today. She has been costly to follow but meets a weak field in her peak run and has strong claims with Gavin Lerena in the saddle.

Race 4: AL DON CUMARCO(4)
Jockey: S’manga KHUMALO – Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

AL DON CUMARCO had an eye-catching comeback run with a big mass at handicap level last time and he will be fitter now. His official rating suggests that he has a little to do with THE WEST IS WIDE but the five-year old gelding was rather unfortunate not to have gone even closer than 3rd behind the latter over this c & d in his penultimate start. He gets the top class services of Khumalo and should go very close in this field.

Race 6: ZANDER(6)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Dorrie SHAM

The lightly raced four-year old ZANDER transferred his promising polytrack form to the grass when he made a smart handicap debut over this c & d, two weeks ago. He showed good speed throughout that event and stayed on strongly to finish close-up in 4th, beaten under one length at the wire. The son of Captain Al drops in class and does seem better than the handicapper’s current assessment. The Sham inmate could suit Marcus’ riding style & the pair should go really well in this line-up.

Top Bet
Race 9: JAM TART(1)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Alan GREEFF

JAM TART had a moderate local debut on the polytrack but she was returning from a 13 week absence and could have needed the run. The Australian imported daughter of Duke Of Marmalade had some promising form in the Cape prior to her last two runs and she will be much fitter now. Her pedigree suggests that she will stay well and the four-year old chestnut gets equipped with blinkers for the first time. She will prefer the grass and should take some beating, if reproducing her best form in this weak field.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 8: CRACKPOT(8)
Jockey: Aurelien LEMAITRE – Trainer: Mitchell WIESE

CRACKPOT impressed with a gutsy last performance over further two weeks ago and the versatile daughter of Judpot could have a major say, once again. She should have little issues taking on male rivals and usually finishes her races well so the wide draw isn’t a concern.
