Winning Form Best Bets

Race 2: NORDIC WIND(12)
Race 3: BIRD OF WAR(13)
Race 6: CRESCENDO(1)
Race 7: VAUCLAIR(1)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: INCADESCENCE(1)
Jockey: Karl ZECHNER – Trainer: Dorrie SHAM

An interesting opening maiden contest on the polytrack and the Lemon Lily c & d formline on 02/05 could be worth following. Only a neck separated 3rd and 4th placed finishers INCADESCENCE and NEW DEAL , in favour of the latter that day and once again there should be precious little to choose between the three-year-olds. The former is also in good touch and he may have finished closer but for some traffic issues. He often jumps slowly which has been his downfall but he could still make amends in this field.

TOP BET
Race 2: NORDIC WIND(12)
Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

The visiting filly from the Cape NORDIC WIND is above-average and she is best in on her local debut on the polytrack. She had one disappointing experience in this province but was reportedly short that day and has improved significantly in her hometown since. The daughter of Windrush wasn’t beaten far in a feature over the mile last time and she could take a power of beating, despite her wide draw. The Justin Snaith inmate had one fair experience against male rivals when finishing just out of the money in the Ready To Run Cup in late November last year.

Race 4: STARSTEPPER(11)
Jockey: Robert KHATHI – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

This is the usual competitive fillies and mares handicap but the c & d formline behind Way Of Escape on 21/03 could be the right one to follow. STARSTEPPER stayed on well for a close 3rd that day, beaten just over one length at the line and she has dropped in the ratings since after two indifferent runs over shorter. Her last victory came with Robert Khathi in the saddle and the Snaith inmate can return to form from her good draw.

Race 7: VAUCLAIR(1)

Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON – Trainer: Tara LAING

VAUCLAIR is a quality local sprinter who is firmly in the twilight of his career but he still continues to produce the goods. The six-year-old gelding has been defeated just once from five c & d efforts and based on official ratings, the son of Var is best in at the weights. His wide draw is a slight issue but he doesn’t face a big field and can make up the ground in the closing stages.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 6: CRESCENDO(1)
Jockey: Kersley RAMSAMY – Trainer: Grant PADDOCK

CRESCENDO got over his theatrics at the start and the improvement was noted when he raced in much stronger company over a mile on this track, two weeks ago. Hardly surprisingly, he weakened late after moving up well but the five-year-old has always indicated that he prefers shorter. The son of Act One will love every bit of this shorter distance and he could bounce back to his best despite a poor draw.
