Race 3: KING OF SPICE(11)
Race 4: TAKETOTASK(3)
Race 7: IN REM(10)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: ROCKING DONNA(1)

Jockey: Grant VAN NIEKERK – Trainer: Gavin SMITH

ROCKING DONNA produced her career best effort over this c & d recently and she could certainly build on that performance. The three-year-old filly challenged strongly when beaten close-up into 2nd that day but she now has a top jockey in the saddle and could go one better.

Race 4: ROMAN SILVANUS(1)
Jockey: Grant VAN NIEKERK – Trainer: Mike BASS

The Cape visitor ROMAN SILVANUS was disappointing when finishing out of the money last time but the long-time maiden had cracking form in stronger company prior to that and he deserves his first career win. The Mike Bass inmate has his local debut and should love this long run-in. He has the best credentials and should take a power of beating, if he has travelled well. The son of Silvano jumps from a handy draw.

TOP BET

Race 5: NIGHT TRIP(1)

Jockey: Garnt VAN NIEKERK – Trainer: Mike BASS

NIGHT TRIP is a classy sort whose high rating tells the full story. His claim to fame has to be his solid neck defeat to champion miler Futura earlier this year and he followed that up with a fair 5th behind Legislate in a Grade 1 over this distance whilst in KZN. The son of Trippi may have just needed his two fair comeback runs in the ‘Mother City’ and the form of his last outing was franked when his stable companion Paterfamilias won at Kenilworth last Saturday. The Mike Bass inmate will be cherry ripe to stake a huge claim on his local debut from a good draw.

Race 8: RED HOT LADY(10)

Jockey: Anthony ANDREWS – Trainer: Jaques STRYDOM

RED HOT LADY had a bright local debut on the polytrack last Friday and she is again well-weighted in this line-up. The former Cape inmate met strong opposition in the ‘Mother City’, including subsequent feature runner-up, Anglet over this distance. She now has her peak outing and drops significantly in class. The daughter of Warm White Night is well drawn and she has already been successful on the turf.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 3: NO REPRIEVE(6)

Jockey: Karl ZECHNER – Trainer: Dorrie SHAM

This is an intriguing contest and with the likely short-priced favourite trying blinkers for the first time, there could be an upset in the offing. NO REPRIEVEThis is an intriguing contest and with the likely short-priced favourite trying blinkers for the first time, there could be an upset in the offing. NO REPRIEVE makes his local debut and though he brings with him poor Cape form, the son of Rebel King has met considerably stronger and those formlines have worked out well. He has shown some pace in his races and interestingly, the stable jockey has preferred him to SPORTSTRADER who is also making his local debut. The top selection is expected to make serious improvement for his new yard.
