Winning Form Best Bets

Race 1: MARINELLA(8)
Race 3: EASTERN PEARL(6)
Race 4: KANARA(1)
Race 5: ANOTHER NIGHT(3)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: MARINELLA(8)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Alan GREEFF

The Pure Fiction formline is very well-represented in this opening juvenile contest where a close finish is expected. MARINELLA was shrewdly supported when she performed best f all in the four-furlong event. Trainer Greeff’s charge showed good speed before staying on for 2nd and she should make natural progress.

TOP BET
Race 2: BRITISH FAIRY(4)

Jockey: Ryan MUNGER – Trainer: Grant PADDOCK

BRITISH FAIRY has found some good recent form and though he was beaten in a moderate field last time, the switch to the polytrack may have accounted for the below-par performance. The Great Britain gelding enjoys the grass and he was given a good ride when outrun late into 2nd over this c & d in his penultimate outing. He jumps from a good draw today and can certainly go one better.

Race 6: TRICIA DUPONT(2)

Jockey: Juan-Paul VAN DER MERVE – Trainer: Gavin SMITH

TRICIA DUPONT cruised to an impressive local debut victory over this c & d at a higher level recently and she could have a bright future in the province. She was expectedly handed a seven-pound hike but the runner-up Starburst Galaxy boosted that form with a smart subsequent minor feature win. The Gavin Smith inmate can follow-up from her good draw.

Race 8: NIGHT IN TAHITI(4)

Jockey: Lyle HEWITSON – Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

NIGHT IN TAHITI had legitimate excuses for her poor comeback run on the polytrack but the eight-week absence would have served her well. The daughter of Kildonan is way better than her recent form suggests and in fact, she went close in a feature over this c & d just under one year ago. She will be fitter today & can bounce back to form, off a further reduced merit rating.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 5: LADY MARSHALL(4)
Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON – Trainer: Dorrie SHAM

This is the usual competitive low-key fillies and mares handicap but there could be a serious betting proposition in the form of LADY MARSHALL from the red-hot Sham yard. The daughter of Parade Leader showed signs of a form return with an improved last c & d performance in a much stronger handicap. It is worth noting that she finished a neck in front of Preoccupation (runs in race 4) who takes her place in a highly competitive handicap today. The progress of the latter could be an excellent guide. The top selection was surprisingly docked five pounds after that run and she could make her presence felt on her peak showing today. Her good draw is an obvious plus.
