Winning Form Best Bets
Race 2: FIRST SURPRISE(3)
Race 3: DUBOIS CITY(4)
Race 5: CAMDEN BOROUGH(4)
Race 6: HURRICANE KATRINA(2)

Race 1: IRISH LADY(5)
Jockey: Kendall MINNIE – Trainer: Alan GREEFF
IRISH LADY is coming along nicely and she challenged strongly when a close third over this c & d in open company, two weeks ago. She was half a length behind the runner-up PRINCESS TROY in that contest and there should again be precious little to choose between the pair. The top rating is drawn favoura- bly towards the outside and gets the narrow first vote.
Race 5: FOR THE COUNT(2)
Jockey: Grant V/NIEKERK – Trainer: Mike BASS
This is an intriguing contest that sees the top weight FLY EMIRATES concede chunks of weight to her rivals. She is seldom beaten far and stays very well. She improved to finish third over ten furlongs last time and won this race by just over ten lengths last year. However, she does have plenty to do at the weights and may have to settle for a minor placing. The three-year olds FOR THE COUNT and SILVAN SPIRIT could fight it out for first, with a slight preference for the former. She reportedly didn’t enjoy the soft conditions last time but does face the weight on 3kgs better terms for a 3.50 length beating. However, she is clearly better in good conditions and she stayed on nicely for a close third over ten furlongs on this course in the East Cape Oaks in her penultimate outing. She was only a short head behind SILVAN SPIRIT in that event and the pair meet on similar weight terms. Both runners should relish this rise in trip and hold strong claims in this event.
Race 6: ALVILDA(1) – TOP BET
Jockey: Muzi YENI – Trainer: Justin SNAITH
This is a very competitive contest but ALVILDA has a love for this course and she is in good form. She was running on well when close-up in the Ladies Mile at Kenilworth last time and won a good contest over ten furlongs on this track, three starts ago. She isn’t too badly in at the weights but may be at her level best over an extra furlong. However, she is very well drawn at barrier 3 and has won over this c & d. Her jockey is likely to set her alight early on in the home straight and she is tipped to keep going.
Race 7: VAUCLAIR(5)
Jockey: Barend VLOOH – Trainer: Tara LAING
VAUCLAIR is in good form and has won 3 of his 5 local starts to date. He found a good late burst to beat many of today’s rivals over this c & d last time and was penalized four pounds for his troubles. The weights suggest that he has work to do to hold the form but he is still improving and is still the one to beat.
VALUE BET FOR TODAY:
Race 4: MIDDLESEX STREET(16) (Each Way)
Jockey: Warren KENNEDY – Trainer: Jacques STRYDOM
This is yet another moderate contest but MIDDLESEX STREET is lightly raced and could offer good improvement. The two-year old son of Lake Coniston is improving steadily and made late progress over 1300m at Arlington on Monday. He is much better drawn this time around and should enjoy this longer run-in.
