The versatile son of Go Deputy would have strengthened during his 12-week absence and he can be followed with confidence this campaign. He won’t be fully tuned-up today but still has the class to go close in this field.

LOOKAMEE had an eye-catching sprint debut on this track and she looks set to build on that. The former KZN resident weakened late in her only attempt over the mile but that was against stronger opposition and she could have a big say today. She has cracked the best draw and her yard has been among the winners over the past fortnight.

The classy TEVEZ is still going strong at the age of seven and rather interestingly, the Cape resident makes his first trip to this province. The dual Grade 2 victor is in good form and he is extremely well treated by the weights today. The travelling and change of scenery are always concerns but the son of Caesour has all the class to take a power of beating. There are some very capable locals who should put up a tough fight.
Race 8: HIGH FASHION(6)
A maximum field of fillies and mares have assembled for this low-key sprint contest and ‘luck in running’ in the closing stages could be crucial. The first selection HIGH FASHION is drawn on the extreme outside of the track and she will need plenty to go her way. That said,she has the credentials and top jockey Fortune will give her a quality ride. She had traffic problems in her last two starts and should have gone closer. The daughter of Ashaawes has finished runner-up in all three of her c & d showings.

There are many speedy types in this competitive low-key handicap and the likely suicidal pace could favour those runners who finish well. FIRE HORSE is just one of them and he had excuses for his poor last run but the break would have helped his cause. He showed encouraging signs with two cracking prior runs over this distance in the province and can bounce back to form with Richard Fourie engaged.
