Race 4: ROSSLYN CHAPEL(3)
Race 6: MASTERLY(4)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: GAUTENG(1)
Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON – Trainer: Tara LAING

GAUTENG finally got back to her best form when she tried this surface, six weeks ago. She had little go her way on that occasion but still ran on for a flattering 2nd over a mile. Nevertheless, the imported chestnut would have benefitted from that first taste of polytrack action and she has cracked a good draw now. She will relish the likely blistering pace of this shorter distance and could stake a serious claim.

Race 3: ETERNAL JET(1)
Jockey: Stallone NAIDOO – Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

This is an intriguing progress plate and the ratings may not necessarily point one in the right direction. ETERNAL JET loves racing on polytracks and he caught the eye with a powerful late burst for 2nd in a competitive six furlong handicap on his local debut, two weeks ago. He has a mountain to climb at the weights but will be fitter now and should prefer the extra 100m.

Race 6: POLITICAL PLAYBOY(1) – TOP BET
Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER – Trainer: Glen KOTZEN

The Cape visitor POLITICAL PLAYBOY is no stranger to racing in the ‘Windy City’, with his last two wins coming locally. He has done really well on this surface and has been campaigning against much stronger in the Cape for some time now. The seven-year old chestnut had two fair comeback runs and he continues to steadily drop in the ratings. He is unbeaten over this c & d and has bright claims despite his big mass.

Race 7: NIGHT FALL(4)
Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER – Trainer: Gavin SMITH

NIGHT FALL was poorly ridden by the inexperienced apprentice in graduation company four weeks ago and it must be noted that she was carded to race at this venue on Friday. She is better than her last two runs and continues to steadily drop in the ratings. The four-year old chestnut filly is due to be ridden by a quality jockey today and she can bounce back to form.

VALUE BET FOR TODAY:

Race 5: GIFT OF GOLD(15) (Each Way)
Jockey: Francois HERHOLDT – Trainer: Jacques STRYDOM

GIFT OF GOLD is a course specialist who has shown encouraging signs in recent efforts on this track. She finished strongly for a close 3rd behind an above-average younger sort over 1300m five weeks ago, despite having two runs inside four days. The chestnut mare clearly deserved her five week break and she has finally cracked a good draw. She shoulders another low mass and can go well, with a top jockey in the saddle.
