Race 2: LEGATEE(3)
Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON – Trainer:  Tara LAING

LEGATEE is a long-time maiden but he is much better than his disappointing last run. He battled to quicken over seven furlongs that day but his previous form shows his true ability. He has been costly to follow thus far but he makes his polytrack debut and should be very competitive. The manner in which he races suggests that this surface will suit him.

Race 4: SKIPPYJON JONES(4)
Jockey: Grant V/NIEKERK – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

SKIPPYJON JONES loves racing in PE but he hasn’t won for a while. However, he is seldom beaten far and only lacked extra late when 4th behind SILVERANO over nine furlongs on this track, seven weeks ago. He now meets his conqueror on 3.5kgs better terms for that 2.50 length defeat and he is proven over the extra distance. The long striding son of Black Minnaloushe has plenty of hope in this open contest.

Race 7: THE PLUNDERER(1) – TOP BET
Jockey: Luyolo MXOTHWA – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

THE PLUNDERER enjoyed this surface when he fought on courageously to win a good contest under a big mass over six furlongs last time out. He raced wide throughout that event but still found extra to hold off a spirited challenge from LE VAR. He only prevailed by a neck and is now 1.5kgs worse off at the weights, but his good draw will make a significant difference today and he could still hold that form.

Race 9: SUIT OF LIGHTS(9)
Jockey: Grant V/NIEKERK – Trainer: Mike BASS

SUIT OF LIGHTS is a fair handicapper and has improved since being equipped with blinkers. However, he is at his best around the turn so his last attempt is best ignored. The Mike Bass inmate ran on well to beat a similar field over six furlongs in his penultimate outing. He jumps from pole position today and should be very competitive, if he takes to this surface.

VALUE BET FOR TODAY:

Race 6: MISSION HOUSE(5) (Each Way)
Jockey: Grant V/NIEKERK – Trainer: Mike BASS

MISSION HOUSE’s poor last run is a total mystery but the only logical explanation would be that she was racing at Fairview for the first time. She had bright local form before that and she ran on well to win a good contest over 1400m in her penultimate outing. She had subsequent winner, DAFFODIL DAY behind her on that occasion and meets the latter on identical weight terms. Of course, the Bass inmate makes her debut on the polytrack but she does so from a good draw and can bounce back to her best form. She could just prefer a short run-in, in which case this track will be ideal for her.
