BANJO ON MY KNEE renews his rivalry with some of the horses he beat in his last victory over nine furlongs and whilst this contest is over a mile it may give some guide to the outcome of today’s race.

Jockey: D Lerena – Trainer: B Human

CUTTING EDGE has been running on well in his last three outings over seven furlongs. He gets to try the nine furlongs again and from a handy draw, he is given the nod to record his eighth career victory here.

Race 6: FLEUR DU CAP (1)
Jockey: T Juglall – Trainer: D Cason

FLEUR DU CAP was a surprise winner of her last start at massive odds. She gets the same 2.5kg claiming apprentice in the irons today and despite the wide draw, she is taken to complete the double.

Race 7: MAMBO LYRIC (6)

Jockey: D De Gouveia – Trainer: C Lensley

MAMBO LYRIC has won both of her starts since relocating from KZN, the latest of which was over this distance and she will be looking to complete the trifecta this afternoon. She is drawn the widest of them all, but she is likely to use her early speed to get across as quickly as she can without using up too much energy.

VALUE BET

Race 2: DOLPHIN (1)
Jockey: D Gouveia – Trainer: C Lensley

DOLPHIN has consistent recent formlines to his credit and did finish 0.75L in front of SPANISH FORT in their penultimate run over this distance and is just 0.5kgs worse off at today’s weights. That should not be enough to turn the tables, but it should bring the pair closer together. The latter does have the blinkers removed for this afternoon’s contest which could aid his cause.
