Race 1:MR ALFONSO(2) – TOP BET
WEEKEND SPECIAL faded badly when taking on male rivals over the minimum trip on this course, six weeks ago. However, she is much better than that and demolished her female counterparts by just over seven lengths over this c & d in her penultimate outing. She is handily drawn at barrier 3 today and could bounce back to her best form, despite rising in class.
Jockey: Randall SIMONS – Trainer: Paul MATCHETT
LIGETI didn’t overrace without blinkers and it worked in his favour when he fought back to win over this c & d last time, after setting his own pace. The four pound penalty, coupled with no apprentice claim today, does make his task of following up much harder but he gets the services of the stable jockey and could again be competitive without the blinkers. The son of Western Winter seems to have rescued his career since trying this surface and he jumps from pole position.
VALUE BET FOR TODAY:
Race 3: ROYAL TASKA(1) (Each Way)
Jockey: Nooresh JUGLALL – Trainer: Kumaran NAIDOO
ROYAL TASKA showed nice improvement on her comeback run, three weeks ago. The Kom Naidoo inmate was making her sand debut and she stayed on for fifth, from a wide draw over six furlongs. She will strip much fitter this time around and the extra 250m and a better draw could make all the difference.
