ROY’S TAXI is in great form and there was plenty of merit in his smart last performance on the grass five days. He, just like his conqueror The Poet checked on a few occasions but ran on strongly for a close 3rd. Of course, he comfortably won his penultimate outing over this c & d at a similar level under tonight’s top jockey.
Race 6: HALLO MR(4)
Jockey: Warren KENNEDY – Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL
The Ice Run c & d formline points heavily in the direction of the top rating HALLO MR who represents an in-form combination. Trainer Gavin van Zyl’s charge overcame his wide draw and fought on gamely for the close 2nd a fortnight ago. He had the 3rd placed entrant ROY’S POWER (2kgs worse off) nearly two lengths behind him and can certainly go one better despite the resultant three pound penalty. The chestnut gelding has drawn midfield tonight.

Jockey: Warren KENNEDY – Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL
TYRON’S JET has acquitted herself very well in stronger company on the grass recently but she quite surprisingly drops further in the merit ratings. Her formline proves her effectiveness over this c & d and the three-year old bay filly should give a great account of herself tonight. The likely decent pace and midfield draw are obvious advantages.
Race 8: SEEK THE SUMMIT(2)
SEEK THE SUMMIT had an excellent last outing against male rivals over a mile on this course seven days ago. She clearly escaped without punishment for her effort and the versatile daughter of Elusive Fort should stake a huge claim back against her own sex tonight.

Jockey: Sherman BROWN – Trainer: Wendy WHITEHEAD
TEXICAN continues to steadily drop in the merit ratings and he can show a welcome return to form with blinkers fitted on his peak showing tonight. The bay gelding had some useful performances with the headgear on, most notably his decent 4th behind subsequent Highveld winner Go Direct over this c & d, five runs ago.
