Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 2: ARRAN ISLES(1)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER

ARRAN ISLES continues to hold her form well and she had a fair last effort on the grass. Admittedly, she has been costly to follow but the Kannemeyer inmate will certainly enjoy returning to this surface and the blinkers could make a real difference. She has gate speed to overcome her wide draw and should go close.

Race 3: MASTER SHOGUN(2)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Alyson WRIGHT

MASTER SHOGUN has improved with each of his three outings on this surface and he will have more to offer this evening. The Pathfork gelding stayed on to finish 2nd best over this c & d recently but was in turn, just under three lengths clear of the next placed runner. He should continue to progress and top jockey Delpech has been engaged.

Race 5: PURE VALOR(8)
Jockey: Muzi YENI – Trainer: Lowan DENYSSCHEN

PURE VALOR has a solid c & d record and he showed that he can quicken when fighting back to narrowly defeat subsequent listed winner MR WINSOME over this c & d on New Year’s Day. The Dynasty gelding was upped three pounds for his troubles but still meets the latter on 1.5kgs better terms and he is even better on tonight’s surface. Top jockey Muzi Yeni retains the ride on the five-year-old gelding.

Race 7: PANZA(3)
Jockey: Sherman BROWN – Trainer: Chris ERASMUS

PANZA has posted some very good recent form with the highlight being his solid last performance in a non-black type event over this trip at Scottsville, five days ago. He is only slightly out at the weights tonight but is capable on this surface and his good draw is a plus.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY

Race 6: CHROME BLUE(2)

Jockey: Keagan DE MELO – Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER

This is an intriguing contest which should be dominated by the Kannemeyer yard but the lesser fancied CHROME BLUE can upset his stablemate. The Cape resident has his first start in the province and he is way better than his last few runs indicate. He has changed stables since his last outing and showed plenty of staying promise early on in his career. The son of Caesour continues to drop in the merit ratings and this is his most successful distance.
