Race 2: IMAGINE(8) – TOP BET
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

IMAGINE showed big improvement when she stayed on strongly for a close third over a mile at Clairwood, two weeks ago. The well-related daughter of Greys Inn was having just her third career outing and she certainly has lots of scope for further improvement. It is a slight worry that she drops in trip and makes her course debut, but she meets a very ordinary line-up and could still take some beating. She jumps from a handy draw and gets the services of in-form Anthony Delpech.

Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Louis GOOSEN

The Gauteng visitor DREAM HUNTER brings solid form into this contest and meets a very moderate line-up The son of Kahal has had three comeback runs this season and is ideally distance suited. He gets the expert services of Anton Marcus, so has plenty going for him tonight. However, the obvious concerns are how he will handle this track and the lights. He is likely to start at very restricted odds so caution must be exercised.

Race 4: RADIO WAVES(4)
Jockey: Craig ZACKEY – Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS

RADIO WAVES and SERISSA resume their rivalry tonight and the switch of tracks firmly places the former in the ascendancy. The Spectrum gelding has a decent course record and won his only c & d start. He has come back to form in his last few starts and he stayed on well for second behind Eton Mess over this trip at Scottsville, two weeks ago. He had the latter half a length adrift of him that day and he is 1kg better off, thanks to an apprentice allowance.

Jockey: Kevin SHEA – Trailer: Duncan HOWELLS

EMINENCE DAY has shown lots of promise and he relished being fitted with blinkers in his last start. The gelding handled the drop to the mile extremely well as he flew late and was beaten just a neck into third over this c & d, despite being slow into stride. He hasn’t raced for eight weeks since so his fitness will be an issue but his conditioner knows exactly how to bring them back well. He drops in class and should take a power of beating, especially if he jumps on terms. Stable jockey Kevin Shea takes the ride.

Race 7: FLITTER(9) (Each Way)
Jockey: MJ ODENDAAL – Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

This is an intriguing renewal of the Flamboyant Stakes with most of the field of 15 runners under sufferance due to the high merit rating of the Gauteng raider, CLASSIC ILLUSION. However, the value of the race could lie with the Gavin van Zyl trained, daughter of Toreador, FLITTER. She is 3kgs out with the former than would apply in a handicap but the collateral form brings her right into the equation. She has also been campaigning on the Highveld and wasn’t disgraced when weakening into 4th over a mile in a feature at Turffontein behind Espumanti, five weeks ago, after being drawn wide. However, she finished 2.50 lengths in front of CLASSIC ILLUSION on that occasion and she is 1kg better off with her rival. The four-year old filly won her maiden on this course and she should be very competitive in this event.
