Winning Form Best Bets

Race 1: ARGO MAGIC(1)
Race 2: GLEN COCO(2)
Race 6: MR WINSOME(1)
Race 7: FORT EMBER(4)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: ARGO MAGIC(1)
Jockey: Alec FORBES – Trainer: Mike Miller

The juveniles take to the track first on this auspicious occasion and with seven of the raced entrants being unraced, the betting exchanges will need to be carefully monitored. However, experience could prove crucial and the Mike Miller inmate ARGO MAGIC was deep in the red when he came off 2nd best on his debut over 800m on the grass at Scottsville, three weeks ago. His subsequent winning stablemate Royal Explorer finished 5th in the same event and that certainly boosts the formline. This son of Argonaut is well drawn and he should have plenty of improvement to come.

TOP BET
Race 2: GLEN COCO(2)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Dennies DRIER

GLEN COCO has improved with each outing and he should start deep in the red in today’s very moderate line-up. The Drier inmate handled this trip well when he ran on strongly for a close 2nd at Scottsville two weeks ago. He has experience at this venue and should take a power of beating from a good draw. The Noordhoek Flyer gelding gets the services of Anton Marcus for the first time.

Race 5: ROCKEFELLER(8)
Jockey: Tristan GODDEN – Trainer: Charles LAIRD

The three-year-old chestnut gelding ROCKEFELLER stays well and he has made eye-catching late headway in each of his last three runs over similar distances on the polytrack. The son of Philanthropist is equally effective on the grass and in fact, he won his debut on this course. The Charles Laird inmate continues to steadily drop in the merit ratings and he can go close back on this track. His good draw is an obvious plus.

Race 7: HEAPS OF FUN(1)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Sean TARRY

The Gauteng Fillies Guineas victress HEAPS OF FUN hasn’t won for 44 weeks since that finest moment in her career but she has been well placed by her brilliant conditioner today and she can land the first prize. The classy daughter of Visionaire wasn’t disgraced in her two local starts on this track at Grade 1 level during the winter and she has her peak showing here after two decent comeback sprints on the Highveld. She is drawn in midfield and should take a power of beating with Marcus in the saddle.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 9: WAVEBREAKER(9)

Jockey: Marco VAN RENSURG – Trainer: Frank ROBINSON

The three-year-old WAVEBREAKER possibly found seven furlongs beyond his reach last time and his wily conditioner has wasted little time in reverting to sprints today. The bay colt had some useful sprint form prior to that and he certainly gives every indication that he has more to offer. His maiden win came over this distance on the polytrack and the Mambo In Seattle colt can make a winning track debut here.
