RACE 1

Trainer David Ferraris will be pleased that his charge NITRO EXPRESS has cracked a decent draw. He likes to produce his run from off the pace and with some luck in running, should prove tough to beat in this opening contest. TAILOR MADE was clear second best last time but may have finished closer if not for his rider accidentally dropping the left-side rein at a crucial stage in the race. GALAXY RACER was beaten by a narrow margin last time out. He gets the current champion jockey in the saddle who may be able to coax a little extra out of him where it matters most.

RACE 2

LADY FIRST followed up his recent win well when finishing runner-up in his last start. He raced wide without cover which makes the run that much more encouraging. OWNER’S STAR finished well last time out under Purton and it is promising that he has kept faith in the ride. NUNCHUKS stayed on well last time from off the pace and should be doing his best work in the latter stages of this contest.

RACE 3

MERCURIAL dictated terms well to win his latest from gun to tape. He will benefit from an apprentice allowance again in this contest and it will be no surprise to see him make it back-to-back wins. WOOD ON FIRE will benefit from a healthy pace and if getting across from his wide draw without using up too much energy, can pose a threat to the top selection. UNIVERSAL GO GO got going too late last time out. He won his penultimate effort under Poon and a repeat of that run should see him finish in the money.

RACE 4

PERFECT TO PLAY produced a fair effort last time and gets in form French ace Piccone in the irons. He likes to produce his run from off the pace and has found no clear running room in his last two starts. With a clear passage in running, he could represent decent each-way value for Hong Kong racing pundits. DYNAMIC EAGLE is the class horse in the race. He won his last start under Badel in fine style and despite shouldering top weight, must be respected. DIONYSUS COLLIN came back to form last time out with a strong finish under Ho. He is well drawn and can make it quick back-to-back wins.

RACE 5

SHINING ON brings ultra-consistent form into this contest and is difficult to oppose. He has already reeled off three wins under Ho and may still be ahead of the handicapper at this stage of his career. He isn’t well-weighted but should be up to the task at hand. HURRY HURRY GAIN finished runner-up on debut despite taking a bump in the race. He will come on leaps from the experience and with the expected natural improvement on offer, can pose a threat to the top selection. SUPERB DADDY was almost a shock winner last time out and it would be ignorant to leave him out of the equation.

RACE 6

SPONTANEOUS won well last time out. The manner in which he finished the final furlong of his last race suggests there is another win in the tank. EVER FORCE showed guts to win his last start but the concern is that he bled on that occasion.  He still however, has plenty of scope for improvement. SEA ELITE stayed on well last time under this apprentice. From his mid-field barrier he can definitely confirm his recent improvement.

RACE 7

ROYAL BOMB didn’t get the best route last time out when having to check for a run at the 600m mark. He still ran on steadily and his prior form suggests he has enough ability to win a race of this nature. WEALTHY DELIGHT was clear second best last time out but he is still very competitive in this division. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces. VILLA FIONN was a narrow winner of his last start. He gets top-Brazilian jockey Maia in the irons and he will be looking to show Hong Kong racing pundits – what he is capable of.

RACE 8

WIND N GRASS showed good guts last time to find one better last time out. He likes to produce his run from off the pace and if there is a decent pace he will be mowing down the frontrunners in the dash to the finish. TRIPLE TRIPLE brings consistent form into the race. He is drawn wide but has struck up a good partnership with Poon and on form looks the obvious threat in the race. JAZZ STEED ran into the money last time under Teetan. He was cramped for room at a crucial stage and should have probably finished closer as a result.

RACE 9

SAVAQUIN is the top rated and class horse in the race. He is in search of a hat-trick of wins in the lucky last and has all the credentials to pull it off. NABOO STAR found a form return last time and his last win interestingly came under Ho. If putting his best foot forward, he can pose a threat to the top selection. GIFT OF LIFELINE ran into the money last time out and gets Maia aboard, who will be looking to make headlines and put a cherry on the top of his ‘dream move’ to Hong Kong.
