RACE 1
SHINING ON and HAPPY TIME were only separated by 0.3 lengths last time out. There is only half a kilogram separating them at the weights and the pair look set to fight out the finish of this opening contest. GOKO is yet to record a victory on this course but he wasn’t disgraced last time out. If putting his best foot forward, he should be right there at the business end.
RACE 2
CLASSIC POSH has produced two good last runs. He found one better in the form of New Future last time out and will be looking to make amends. Zac Purton takes the ride and he may be able to coax a little bit extra out of him where it matters most. FORTUNE HERO won well last time out defeating Tigerlad on this course. He likes to race on the speed and a repeat of that effort should see him pose a threat to the top selection. RUN THE TABLE is 2kgs better off at the weights with the top selection and should finish closer as a result.
RACE 3
EXALTATION has narrowly failed in his last two starts. He was beaten by a nose in his penultimate effort and then last time got beaten by a neck at the wire. He is still looking for that elusive first victory but on form looks difficult to oppose. DYNAMIC EAGLE followed up his recent win well when finishing 2.25 lengths behind VICTORIOUS SEEKER. He is 2kgs better off at the weights which may be just enough to turn the tables.
RACE 4
UNIVERSAL GO GO is the best bet on the card as he doesn’t take on the strongest field this afternoon. He won on this course last time in fine fashion with apprentice Poon aboard. It is encouraging that he has kept faith in the ride and he should take a power of beating. HERCULES’ last victory came over this course and distance back in September 2020. He has cracked a fairly neat draw and the booking of Moreira to ride is quite significant. TELECOM PUMA wasn’t disgraced last time out. He finished just half a length off the winner in his penultimate run and will benefit from a 3kgs claiming apprentice in the irons.
RACE 5
MALDIVES found plenty support last time out and backed up his favourite status when finishing powerfully under today’s rider. He is in peak shape at the moment and should be able to build on his solid maiden triumph. BRAVE KING found a form return last time out when finishing just half a length behind the winner. He is drawn best of all and can confirm his recent improvement. KING DRAGON finished right behind the selection last time out. He is half a kilogram better off at the weights and could be upset potential.
RACE 6
GRATEFUL HEART is a three-time winner on this course from just six starts with a 50 win percentage. The manner in which he won his last start suggests there is another one and rightly warrants being the top selection. EXPLOSIVE WITNESS narrowly won his last outing. He will have to shoulder top weight in this contest but it is encouraging that Alex Badel has kept faith in the ride. HONG KONG BET needed his last outing after an eight-month layoff. He would have come on with that run under the belt and can run into the money.
RACE 7
GIFT OF LIFELINE won his last start over this c&d. He should be at peak fitness and it will be no surprise to see him make it back-to-back wins. SMILING CITY is another sort who won his last race over this c&d. He faces stronger this afternoon but will benefit from a 3kg relief in the weights, thanks to his claiming apprentice. INCANTO PREPARED is a consistent sort. He followed up his recent double with a fair effort over this c&d and should be right there when they reach the finish line.
RACE 8
HALL OF CHAMP was beaten just under a length in his last start by Ka Ying Master. He is yet to win on this course but looks fairly handicapped and if putting his best foot forward, can cause the upset. TRIPLE TRIPLE has placed in his four outings including two runner-up berths recently. He should give another good account and may be rewarded for consistency. WINSTON’S LAD came back to his best last time out. He likes to race off the speed and should be picking off the frontrunners in the dash to the wire.
RACE 9
CAPITAL STAR may have slightly needed his last start after a break when finishing 1.3 lengths behind HAPPY ALUMNI. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights which should be enough to turn the tables with his recent conqueror. SCORES OF FUN is a consistent sort. He will have to shoulder top weight but should make his presence felt once again in the lucky last.
