V CHEVALIERS produced a smart comeback effort when only beaten by half a length at the wire. He shoulders top weight but is drawn best of all and merits healthy respect in this opening contest. STAY CHILL is having his third run after a rest and should be cherry-ripe. He produced a fair last effort, has a handy galloping weight and the Irish-bred should be competitive.
13.45 Race 2 – Class 4 Handicap 1650m
Selections: 5/7/8
SUN OF MAKFI wasn’t disgraced in his comeback run when beaten 1.75 lengths by Golden Bolt. He should strip much fitter, looks fairly handicapped and is the narrow first selection. ALL JOYFUL won well on this track last time defeating President Star. He doesn’t take on the strongest of Class 4 rivals and is capable of making it quick back-to-back wins.
14.15 Race 3 – Class 4 Handicap 1200m
Selections: 1/8/6
ARES finished runner-up in his last outing before the season break. He was a winner at this level a year ago and if returning fit has strong claims in this type of field. HAPPILY FRIENDS produced a fair comeback run on this track when only beaten by a couple of lengths. He should strip fitter and can challenge the top selection in the run down to the wire.
14.45 Race 4 – Class 5 Handicap 1800m
Selections: 7/3/6
GO BALLISTIC was a narrow comeback winner when defeating Sky Gem on this track. He remains in Class 5 and is the mount of South African jockey Luke Ferraris and there is no reason why he cannot win again. SUPER HONG KONG ran on from far back last time. Moreira takes the ride and if settling closer to the pace, is a big runner.
15.15 Race 5 – Class 4 Handicap 1200m
Selections: 9/14/5
LUCKY MARYKNOLL followed up his most recent win with a solid effort when beaten just under a length at the wire. The Aussie-bred runs well for Maia, looks well-placed in this contest and should give a good account of himself. MELBOURNE HALL is better than his below-par last effort. The form of his penultimate run catches the eye when close up behind Wood On Fire and a repeat of that effort should see him finish in the money.
15.45 Race 6 – Class 3 Handicap 1200m
Selections: 8/4/2
STOICISM represents the father-son Ferraris combination. He finished close-up in his comeback run behind Classic Posh, should strip fitter and could be one to cause an upset. DIAMOND BRILLIANT showed signs of needing his comeback run. His form prior to that run is attractive and it will be no surprise to see him bounce back to his best.
16.15 Race 7 – Class 3 Handicap 1200m
Selections: 3/10/7
SIMPLY FLUKE wasn’t disgraced in his comeback effort on this track when beaten just under three lengths by Classic Posh. He should strip fitter, can get back to winning ways and definitely represents decent each-way value for Hong Kong racing pundits. WOOD ON FIRE likes to come from off the pace and he bounced back to his best last time when winning over this C&D. He steps up in class and should be doing his best work late.
16.50 Race 8 – Class 3 Handicap 1650m
Selections: 2/5/9
EVERYONE’S DELIGHT has won three of his last four starts and on form is difficult to oppose. He won on debut which suggests that he races well fresh, is still on the upgrade and looks one of the better bets on the card. HARMONY SPIRIT produced a fair comeback run despite being cramped for galloping room in the straight. With better luck in running, he should be right there in the lucky last.
