PRINCE OF TARANTO showed good improvement when finishing second in his last start over this C&D. He raced from a handy position that day and the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. He returns from a 13-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. The son of Crusade is progressive and if not in need of the run, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
Race 2: RUSSIAN ROCK (7)
Jockey: De Melo K – Trainer: Kannemeyer D
RUSSIAN ROCK was his own worst enemy in the Grade 1 Cape Derby last time as he overraced in the early and middle stages. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Pomodoro will enjoy the drop back in distance this afternoon. He tries the right-hand turn for the first time and if suited to the track, he should get back to winning ways.
Race 6: JACQUELINE (7)
Jockey: Veale S – Trainer: Drier D
JACQUELINE returns from her stint in the Cape. She moved up like a winner last time, but was outrun in the latter stages. She won her only attempt on this course. If all went well with her travels, she should go close to winning.

AFTER THE RAIN produced a promising debut effort over 1200m on the polytrack. He lost a length at the start, raced green but the manner in which he finished off his race was eye-catching. The son of Master Of My Fate will love the rise to the mile and with the natural improvement that is expected, he may be the one to side with.

FAVOUR finished 1.1 lengths behind SHARE HOLDER in his last start. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is likely to settle near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners in the run down to the line.
